Learn where to find an Alpha Swinub in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the early days of the Pokemon universe when humans and Pokemon hardly coexisted. As a member of the Survey Corps located in Jubilife Village, the player will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (also known as Galaxy Team). This game is set in the Hisui region, later known as modern-day Sinnoh. To complete Hisui’s first-ever Pokédex, the player must catch every Pokémon species found here.
Some Pokemon in the Hisui region are more significant than their regular counterparts, have fiery red eyes, and overflow with Wild Might, which boosts their battle skills and elevates their stats. They are referred to as Alpha Pokemon.

Alpha Pokemon
The Alpha Pokemon’s level is always higher than that of its ordinary counterparts. They are all hostile, except Mantyke and Mantine, and they never flee when they see the player (except when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them). When an Alpha Pokemon comes across the player, it will roar and release a shockwave. If they get close enough, the player may be stunned and knocked to the ground.
The player can catch the Alpha Pokemon regardless of its level by battling it before throwing a Poke Ball. However, the player will be unable to do so if their current obedience level is significantly lower than that of the Alpha Pokemon. However, the player can avoid combat by sneaking up on Alpha Pokemon in tall grass or utilizing stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball.
Furthermore, suppose the player is having difficulty catching an Alpha Pokemon. In that case, they can improve their Star Rank, also known as their Survey Corps rank, by accomplishing Research Tasks and speaking with Professor Laventon in any of the Base Camps.
In the game, there are three different kinds of Alpha Pokemon: fixed Alpha Pokemon, which always spawn in specific places and have a fixed level; random Alpha Pokemon, which may only appear after the player calms the area’s frenzied Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks, which may appear as a second wave in the same location as a Mass Outbreak’s first wave.
Since the other two are completely random, we will only discuss fixed Alpha Pokemon, namely an Alpha Swinub.
Alpha Swinub
Swinub is an Ice and Ground type Pig Pokemon with a brown and round body that looks like that of a pig’s, shaggy brown fur, darker brown striped fur on its back, four legs that look like tufts and are covered by its fur, a pair of perpetually closed eyes, and a round, pink nose.
According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Swinub is good at sniffing out mushrooms from underneath the grass or snow. Because of that, people from the Hisui region have relied on Swinub since ancient times.
An Alpha Swinub can be found northwest of Bonechill Wastes (southwest of Avalugg’s Legacy or northeast of Arena’s Approach) in the Alabaster Icelands and the area mentioned at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Swinub that can be found in this location is a Level 62 Pokemon.
To ensure that the player moves first in a fight, it is advised to sneak up behind the Alpha Pokemon using tall grass and/or other stealthy items like Smoke Bombs and throw the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball on its back to catch it off unaware.
If you want food to lure the Swinub before catching it, know it prefers Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
Additionally, suppose you plan on battling a Swinub. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Swinub is an Ice and Ground type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Poison-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type moves.
Aside from the Alpha Swinub that can be found in the Alabaster Icelands, the regular, non-alpha Swinub can also be found in other parts of the Alabaster Icelands (Bonechill Wastes, Avalugg’s Legacy, and Avalanche Slopes) and can also be found here at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Swinub can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands and the Alabaster Icelands.
Now that the player has an Alpha Swinub, the player can try to use the Alpha Swinub to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
