Square Enix had already delayed Forspoken to October, and while fans are still wondering what’s in store for this Isekai fantasy game, it looks like they might have to wait a little longer until the release.
In a recent episode of The XboxEra Podcast (via GamingBolt), insider Nick Baker reveals that Forspoken could be delayed depending on the release of Final Fantasy 16. He says:
“There’s a possibility that Square may delay Forspoken again, but it’s kind of conditional and apparently this condition is whether they think they can get Final Fantasy 16 out this year.”
Apparently, Square Enix is looking at the development of FF16, and if it will be ready to come out during the holidays. Should Final Fantasy come out this year, they could push Forspoken back—in order to give it a proper window to shine instead of competing for the spotlight of a better known IP.
If anything, these are still just rumors, and we have no official announcement from the studio. If Forspoken is ready to come out in October, I think there’s a lot of room until the holiday release should Final Fantasy 16 launch around that time.
Then again, it’s probably best for developers to be given time to polish a game. If Forspoken isn’t ready by the expected release date, I’m all up for a delay—whatever keeps the developers less exhausted.
Frey is pushed to her limit in the strange and cruel land of Athia. She must use her magic-enhanced combat and parkour abilities to survive against the fearsome, twisted creatures that lurk in the Break.
Since there hasn’t been any official release, we should still expect Forspoken to launch sometime this October.
