The Katosa Aug Shrine or the Katosa Aug Apparatus is one of the many shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This shrine requires Link to traverse the shrine by getting a glowing orb to its socket, which can be done by manipulating the rotation of your Nintendo Switch or your controller. This is a fairly easy shrine to complete, and in this guide, you’ll learn how to complete the Katosa Aug Shrine, obtain the chest, and claim the Spirit Orb.

Link will receive Spirit Orbs for completing Shrines. The Spirit Orbs obtained can be exchanged for more Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels. Hyrule has 120 Shrines all over Hyrule, so Link can get a total of 120 Spirit Orbs. You get to decide whether you want Link to have more Hearts or more Stamina.

The Katosa Aug Shrine can be found on the northeastern part of the Akkala Highlands right across the East Akkala Stable, which can be found by the path to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab (the shrine can be located southeast of Deep Akkala or southwest of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab). The Katosa Aug Shrine is one of eight shrines in the Akkala Tower region.

Upon entering the Katosa Aug Shrine, you will see in the distance on the right side of Link is a glowing machine which is the titular Katosa Aug Apparatus. Ahead of Link is a gap, then another wide platform with the glowing orb in the far right and the glowing orb socket in the far left, behind the glowing orb is a large golf club-like machine, then, just ahead of this platform is another gap then another platform with the altar and the monk.

To complete the Katosa Aug Shrine, this is what Link must do:

  1. First, head to Link’s right and go to the glowing machine that Link can interact with.
  2. Interact with the glowing machine, and you will gain control of the large golf club-like machine near the glowing orb. This large golf club can be controlled by tilting and rotating your Nintendo Switch or controller. The goal of this puzzle is to shoot the glowing orb to its glowing orb socket by pushing the glowing orb using the golf club similar to, well, golf. Tilt the left side of your Nintendo Switch or controller down to wind up, then tilt the right side down to hit the glowing orb. With the right amount of force, you will be able to get the glowing orb to its glowing orb socket. It is worth mentioning that if you fail to put the glowing orb in the glowing orb socket and the glowing orb stops in the middle of the platform or if it falls off the platform, Link would have to restart the interaction with the glowing machine. You can do this by pressing the B button to cancel the interaction then pressing the A button to interact with it again, and, after that, another glowing orb will appear near the golf club.
  3. After successfully putting the glowing orb into its socket, a small platform will start to move towards the platform that Link is on. Let Link get on this small platform, and it will carry Link towards the platform with the altar and the monk.
  4. Before talking to the monk and claiming your Spirit Orb, head to the back of the altar, and you will find another entryway. Go through the entryway to get to the next room.
  5. In the next room, you will find another glowing machine at the top of a small flight of stairs; just ahead of this platform is a gap, then another very wide platform that curves up slightly in the middle with another glowing orb on the far right side and another glowing orb socket in the far left side, behind the glowing orb is another golf club-like machine, then, on the right of the glowing machine, is a gap and, in the distance, is a chest on top of a small platform. Interact with the glowing machine and, similar to the previous golf-like puzzle; Link must get the glowing orb to its glowing orb socket by pushing the glowing orb using the golf club, which can be manipulated by tilting and rotating your Nintendo Switch or controller. To solve this puzzle, turn the left side of your Nintendo Switch or controller slightly up or clockwise so that it will face the curved part of the platform, tilt the left side of your Nintendo Switch or controller down to wind up then tilt the right side down to hit the glowing orb. With the right amount of force, you will be able to get the glowing orb to its glowing orb socket. Also, similar to the previous golf-like puzzle, you would have to restart the interaction with the glowing machine to get another glowing orb if you fail to put the glowing orb in its glowing orb socket.
  6. After successfully putting the glowing orb to its glowing orb socket, a small platform will start to move from the chest on the right side of the room towards the platform that Link is on. Let Link get on this small platform, and it will carry Link towards the platform with the chest. Open the chest to obtain a Great Frostblade.
  7. Ride the small platform again to get to the previous platform, then head back to the previous room.
  8. Finally, go near the altar, talk to the monk, and claim your Spirit Orb.

As mentioned above, the Katosa Aug Shrine or the Katosa Aug Apparatus is one of eight shrines in the Akkala Tower region. The other shrines are the Ke’nai Shakah shrine or A Modest Test of Strength, the Ze Kasho Shrine or the Ze Kasho Apparatus, the Tutsuwa Nima Shrine or A Major Test of Strength, the Dah Hesho Shrine or A Minor Test of Strength, the Zuna Kai Shrine or Zuna Kai’s Blessing,  the Tu Ka’loh shrine or Tu Ka’loh’s Blessing, and the Ritaag Zumo shrine or Ritaag Zumo’s Blessing.
