Where is the military base in GTA 5?
The military base in GTA 5 is located right next to the Great Ocean Highway just south of Paleto Bay.
The GTA 5 military base’s formal name is Fort Zancudo, and within its walls are some spectacular military aircraft that you won’t find anywhere else in Los Santos.
There are three different entrances to choose from, and depending on which military vehicle you want to steal, you will want to use the base entrance closest to the target vehicle’s location.
Military Base Entrances
As mentioned previously, three different entrances are available when entering Fort Zancudo. These are:
- Main Entrance – Great Ocean Highway
- East Entrance – Along Route 68
- Great Ocean Highway Fence – North Chumash
If you’re looking to steal the Rhino Tank, P-996 LAZER Jet Fighter, or the Titan mega-chopper, use the Main Entrance (Great Ocean Highway) so that you can get to their hangars quickly.
On the other hand, jumping the fence along the Great Ocean Highway will lead you to the Buzzard Attack Chopper the quickest.

Fort Zancudo is home to some of the most destructive vehicles in GTA 5. You won’t find any other place that spawns a Rhino Tank, P-996 LAZER Jet Fighter, Buzzard Attack Chopper, or the Titan mega-chopper all in one place. The only challenge is getting in and out of the military base alive.
With some cheats, you can quickly get in and out of Fort Zancudo with barely a scratch. However, if you want a real challenge, try to enter the military base without cheats and see if you can steal the Buzzard Attack Chopper and get out alive to enjoy the aircraft.
