Aside from trying to escape the Underworld in Supergiant Games’ Hades, there are also mini side quests Zagreus can complete in the Fated List of Minor Prophecies. One of the prophecies on the Fated List is The Gift of Song, which unlocks after strengthening your bond with Orpheus.
Unlocking The Prophecy
Before being able to complete the prophecy, there are a few things Zagreus must do to unlock it:
- Unlock the Fated List of Minor Prophecies by purchasing it from the House Contractor.
- Fulfill The Reluctant Musician prophecy from the Fated List to return Orpheus to the House of Hades.
- Talk to Orpheus, give him Nectar (a total of 5 Nectar to be exact), and talk to Eurydice to convince Orpheus to sing again.
After doing all these, talk to Orpheus as much as possible, and he will suggest to Zagreus that he should learn to play. This will unlock The Gift of Song prophecy.
The Gift of Song
Once you have unlocked The Gift of Song prophecy, the Lyre can be purchased for one Diamond from the House Contractor named Lyre, Splendid under the Bedchambers tab.
According to the to-do list of The Gift of Song prophecy on the Fated List, Zagreus must learn to play the Lyre through training and practice (as you would in real life). To do this, you must play the Lyre located in Zagreus’ room near the foot of his bed as much as possible. You can do this before or after every run, and you can play it as much as you like. As expected, Zagreus will suck at playing the Lyre at first, but, eventually, he will begin to sound decent. Do not forget to still talk to Orpheus as much as possible, as he will give Zagreus some pointers on how to play. These pointers, however, are not required and for dialogue purposes only, but it is a nice touch of realism nonetheless.
To complete The Gift of Song prophecy, Zagreus must play the Lyre 210 times. Then he can call himself a musician. Completing this prophecy will give 2 Ambrosia as a reward. This side quest can be a chill break from hacking and slashing shades and trying to escape the Underworld.
