How to Find Cornifer in Fog Canyon in Hollow Knight

Team Cherry’s Metroidvania action-adventure game, Hollow Knight, follows the journey of a nameless warrior called the Knight as he travels through Hallownest, which is now a kingdom in ruins because of a supernatural disease. As the Knight journeys through Hallownest, he encounters various characters that will help fully unravel the story in the game.

To fully explore and navigate through Hallownest, the Knight must have the maps for the different areas in the game. The Knight must purchase maps from the humming cartographer Cornifer to obtain them. Cornifer is working on mapping the entirety of Hallownest so he can be found in every area and sell the area’s map to the Knight.

This guide will teach the player how to find Cornifer in Fog Canyon!

In the Fog Canyon, the Knight will encounter different kinds of enemies like Uomas, Oomas, and Charged Lumaflies. As mentioned above, the Knight will also encounter Uumuu, the main boss, in the area. However, to get to Cornifer, the Knight will only encounter Uomas and Oomas. Cornifer can be found in the top part of a room directly above the room with the entrance to the Teacher’s Archives.

To go through Fog Canyon and find Cornifer, the Knight must first obtain the Shade Cloak ability, which allows the Knight to dash through enemies and their attacks and Shade Gates. Additionally, so the Knight will be able to traverse Fog Canyon more easily, it is recommended that the Knight should have the Monarch Wings ability, the Mantis Claw ability, and the Isma’s Tear ability. Traversing the Fog Canyon and reaching Cornifer is fairly easy with these abilities.

To find Cornifer, this is what the Knight must do:

  1. Starting from the Queen’s Station Stagway Bench, take the exit on the right, jump up the platforms, head to the top, and take the exit on the left.
  2. The Knight has now arrived in Fog Canyon. Head to the very top of the room and take the exit on the left. In this room, the Knight will encounter a lot of Uomas and Oomas. Be careful when attacking Oomas; it will pop its shell, and its orange core will explode on the Knight.
  3. The Knight will encounter more of Uomas and Oomas in this next room. Head to the very top of the shaft and take the exit on the right.
  4. Next, you can hear Cornifer humming and see pieces of paper lying around. Continue to head to the right, where five Uomas, two Oomas, and a pool of acid are below. Eventually, the Knight will find a Shade Gate, which is a gate made from the void, in the middle of the room. If the Knight tries to pass through, the Knight will bounce back but will not deal damage. To continue, the Knight must use the Shade Cloak ability to pass through the Shade Gate. Press the assigned dash button to use the Shade Cloak ability and pass through the Shade Gate, then continue to the right, where the Knight will encounter four more Oomas and five Uomas.
  5. In this part of the room, the Knight will find a path near the top of the room that leads to the left and is slightly blocked by an Ooma. Head up and proceed on the path on the left, where the Knight will encounter three more Uomas.
  6. Continue heading to the left, and, finally, the Knight will find Cornifer!

Now that the Knight has found Cornifer, the Knight can purchase the map of Fog Canyon for 150 Geo. After that, the Knight can now navigate Fog Canyon better!
