Learn how to obtain the Hallownest Seals in the Fog Canyon in Hollow Knight!
Team Cherry’s Metroidvania action-adventure game, Hollow Knight, follows the journey of a nameless warrior called the Knight as he travels through Hallownest, which is now a kingdom in ruins because of a supernatural disease. As the Knight journeys through Hallownest, he can obtain new items, abilities, spells, and charms that will help him traverse through different areas of Hallownest and defeat enemies.
Examples of these items in the game are the Hallownest Seals. According to in-game lore, these items are the official symbols of the Pale King and the Five Great Knights. The symbol is also used as part of an aesthetic around the Hallownest kingdom. Hallownest Seals can be found in different areas throughout Hallownest, and in this guide, you will learn how to obtain them in the Fog Canyon!
Fog Canyon Hallownest Seals
There are two Hallownest Seals in the Fog Canyon area. One can be hidden behind a wall on the right side of the area, and the other can be found in a room that can be accessed before the Overgrown Mound on the left side.
In the Fog Canyon, the Knight will encounter different kinds of enemies like Uomas, Oomas, and Charged Lumaflies. Additionally, as mentioned above, the Knight will encounter Uumuu, the main boss, in the area. Fortunately, the Knight will not face Uumuu to find the Hallownest Seals.
To go through Fog Canyon and find the Hallownest Seals, the Knight must first obtain the Shade Cloak ability, which allows the Knight to dash through enemies and their attacks and Shade Gates. Additionally, so the Knight will be able to traverse Fog Canyon more easily, it is recommended that the Knight should have the Monarch Wings ability, which allows the Knight to perform a double jump in mid-air, and the Mantis Claw ability, which enables the Knight to cling to walls and jump off of them, and the Isma’s Tear ability, which allows the Knight to swim in pools of acid without taking any damage. With these abilities, obtaining the Hallownest Seals is very easy.
To find the first Hallownest Seal, this is what the Knight must do:
- Starting from the Queen’s Station Stagway Bench, take the exit on the right, jump up the platforms, head to the top, and take the exit on the left.
- The Knight has now arrived in Fog Canyon. Head to the very top of the room and take the exit on the left. In this room, the Knight will encounter a lot of Uomas and Oomas. Be careful when attacking Oomas; it will pop its shell, and its orange core will explode on the Knight.
- The Knight will encounter more of Uomas and Oomas in this next room. Head to the very top of the shaft and take the exit on the right.
- Next, head to the right, where five Oomas, two Uomas, and a pool of acid are below. Eventually, the Knight will find a Shade Gate, which is a gate made from the void, in the middle of the room. If the Knight tries to pass through, the Knight will bounce back but will not deal damage. To continue, the Knight must use the Shade Cloak ability to pass through the Shade Gate.
- Press the assigned dash button to use the Shade Cloak ability and pass through the Shade Gate; continue to the right, where the Knight will encounter five more Oomas and four Uomas, then take the exit on the right. It is worth noting that Cornifer can be found at the top part of the room after the Shade Gate, and the Knight can purchase the area map from him for 150 Geo.
- Next, continue to the right, where the Knight will encounter 11 more Oomas. Be watchful of the explosive bubbles on the floor. Then, the Knight will encounter three more Uomas and a pool of acid below. Go through them and take the exit on the right.
- The Knight will encounter more Uomas, Oomas, and Charged Lumaflies in this next part of the room. Head to the very top of the shaft, then, just before the exit on the top, jump towards the wall on the left (top left of the Charge Lumafly), and you will find and reveal a hidden part of the room.
- In this hidden part of the room, you will see a shaft with a Uoma on the top part of the shaft, another Uoma on the bottom, spikes on the walls and floor, and small platforms in the middle that the Knight can safely stand on. Get rid of the first Uoma, jump down on one of the small platforms in the middle, head a little bit down, and get rid of the second Uoma.
- At the bottom of the shaft, you will see a glowing thing on top of a small platform. Inspect it, and the Knight has now obtained a Hallownest Seal!
To find the other Hallownest Seal, this is what the Knight must do:
- Starting from the Queen’s Station Stagway Bench, take the exit on the right, jump up the platforms, head to the top, and take the exit on the left.
- The Knight has now arrived in Fog Canyon. In this room, the Knight will encounter a lot of Uomas and Oomas. Be careful when attacking Oomas; it will pop its shell, and its orange core will explode on the Knight. Head to the very top of the room and take the exit on the left.
- Next, the Knight will encounter much more of Uomas and Oomas. Head to the shaft’s middle part and take the left exit.
- In this next room, the Knight will encounter a lot of Charged Lumaflies and a pool of acid below. Head to the left then, after the large platform with spikes, you will find an exit above. Jump up the small platforms and take the exit above.
- Afterward, head to the top of the room through the path on the left. Then, at the top of a platform, you will see a glowing thing in the middle of two bodies. Inspect it, and the Knight has now obtained another Hallownest Seal!
After obtaining the Hallownest Seals, the Knight can head to the west of the statue of the Hollow Knight in the City of Tears and find Relic Seeker Lemm, then sell the Hallownest Seals to him for 450 Geo each.
