Pokemon Legends: Arceus occurs in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui region pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also request help from the player. One of these requests is Request 37, titled ‘The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs.’ This guide will teach you how to complete ‘The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs’ request.
The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs
To unlock this request, the player must first quell Ursaluna, part of the “Arezu’s Predicament” mission (the eighth mission of the game).
After that, you can now start this request! To do just that, head back to Jubilife Village, enter the Galaxy Hall, and head to the basement using the flight of stairs found on the east or west side of the hall. You will find a woman dressed in yellow named Risa outside the offices. Talk to her, and she will tell the player that she wants to smell a nostalgic and unmistakable fragrance again. She wonders if the herbs from her home region with this smell can be found in the Hisui region. She will then tell the player it is an herb that looks like a bluish vine that, according to her, clings to a specific Pokemon. She will then ask the player to catch this Pokemon with herbs that look like blue vines hanging off it. Then, just like that, ‘The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs’ has started!
The Pokemon that Risa is referring to is a Tangela. Tangela can be found in the Crimson Mirelands (around the south of Solaceon Ruins, north of Gapejaw Bog, northwest of Sludge Mound, and south of Lake Valor) and in the Cobalt Coastlands (south of Windbreak Stand and in Crossing Slope). Tangela can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Out of all these areas, however, the closest place to find a Tangela is in Solaceon Ruins or Gapejaw Bog in the Crimson Mirelands.
It is worth mentioning that Tangela is a Grass-type Pokemon, so if you decide to battle and weaken it to catch it, make sure to use Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, or Bug-type attacks the least, as these are super effective against Grass-type Pokemon like Tangela.
Also, it is essential to note that the player would not be able to retrieve the Tangela once you have given it to Risa, so make sure to catch more than one Tangela if you want only to give her the Tangela you are willing to give up.
After catching a Tangela, head back to Risa still in the basement of the Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village. Talk to her and select the Tangela you want to give Risa. After that, Risa will be amazed by the Tangela and its scent that she distinctly remembers. She will then confirm that the Tangela is the herbs from her home. Finally, Risa will thank the player for catching a Tangela for her and reward the player with five Smoke Bombs and two Exp. Candy S.
Now that you have completed the ‘The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs’ request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
