Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the olden days of the Pokemon world when harmony between people and Pokemon was rare. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also request the player’s help. One of these requests is Request 56, titled ‘Getting Help from Machoke.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘Getting Help from Machoke’ request.
Getting Help from Machoke
To unlock this request, the player must first unlock Basculegion as a rideable Pokemon which is part of ‘The Lordless Island’ Mission (the tenth mission in the game). The player must quell a frenzied Hisuian Arcanine.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! Head to the south of Windbreak Stand, and near the cliff, you will find an older man in blue and gray clothing named Bosley. Talk to Bosley, and he will tell the player that he needs help catching a Pokemon as the Construction Corps is busier than ever, making homes for the people in Jubilife Village.
He will say they thought, why not try and see if Pokemon could help them out with the lack of labor to handle everything. Bosley will then say that he searched for a reliable Pokemon that would not need much training, and he was lucky enough to find a Machoke.
He will then say that he would love for Machoke to join them, but he does not know how to catch a strong-looking Pokemon like Machoke. So, Bosley will ask the player to show him a completed Pokedex entry for Machoke as he wants to know more about it first. Then, just like that, the ‘Getting Help from Machoke’ request has started!
To complete this request, all the player has to do is complete the Pokedex entry for Machoke. This can be done by accomplishing Research Tasks. But, first, you have to find some Machoke.
Machoke can only be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands (north of Oreburrow Tunnel), Cobalt Coastlands (near Bosley south of Windbreak Stand or west of Castaway Shore), Coronet Highlands (north of Fabled Spring and near Cloudcap Pass), and the Alabaster Icelands (around Icebound Falls, Arena’s Approach, and Snowfall Hotspring). The player can also find a level 40 Alpha Machoke near Bosley in the Cobalt Coastlands. Machoke can be found in these locations at all times of day and in every weather condition.
Now that you know where to find some Machoke, the next is to get Machoke’s Pokedex entry to Research Level 10 by completing Research Tasks. You can immediately complete Machoke’s Pokedex entry by catching one Machoke, changing one of its moves to Bullet Punch, then using it in battle and using a Strong Style Bullet Punch four times.
This can immediately complete Machoke’s Pokedex entry fast because catching a Machoke raises the Research Level by two. The first and third time the player sees the Machoke use Bullet Punch, the Research Level goes up by one. Meanwhile, on the first, second, and fourth time the player sees the Machoke use a Strong Style move, your Research Level increases by two (so using a Strong Style Bullet Punch ticks both of those boxes). This will get you to Research Level 10 in the end.
After accomplishing enough Research Tasks, head back to the Base Camp and talk to Professor Laventon to update your Pokedex. Then, once you have completed Machoke’s Pokedex entry by getting it to Research Level 10, head back to Bosley, still found south of Windbreak Stand and near the cliff, and show him the completed Pokedex entry for Machoke.
Bosley will then conclude that Machoke is a perfect addition to the Construction Corps. He will then suddenly start to run away, and the screen will fade to black. Then, after the screen fades back, Bosley will now be with a Machoke and thank the player as he was able to catch a Machoke. He will then say that the Machoke enjoyed the Grain Cake he threw at it and promised to feed it lots of grain dishes, which seems like enough incentive for the Machoke to help them out. Finally, Bosley will reward the player with three Grit Gravels and one Aux Powerguard for your efforts.
Now that you have completed the ‘Getting Help from Machoke’ request, you can try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
