Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the old times in the Pokemon world at a time when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the land of the Hisui region, known as the Sinnoh region in modern times, you’ll join the Galaxy Expedition Team (or just Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Various people will also ask for help from the player in the form of requests. One of these requests is Request 100, titled the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands’’. This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands’ request.
Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands
To unlock this request, the player must first complete the “Tricky Treat Strategy” Request, which is the 99th request in the game where the player must comply with an odd request from Mai of the Diamond Clan. This request is also part of the Daybreak DLC.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, complete the “Tricky Treat Strategy” Request from Mai and her Munchlax in the Front Gate of Jubilife Village, and after completing that request, Mai will tell the player that a massive mass outbreak has been reported in the Coronet Highlands. So, the next step in their research is to investigate the Coronet Highlands. Then, the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands’ started just like that!
After that, Mai will ask if the player is ready to start the investigation and head to the Coronet Highlands. Confirm on the prompt, and the player, Mai, and her Munchlax will head to the Highlands Camp in the Coronet Highlands. Upon arriving in the area, Sabi of the Diamond Clan will appear and tell Mai and the player that Sabi’s clairvoyance showed her that a person was running from a bunch of alpha Pokemon, so she saved them. Mai will then say that the massive mass outbreaks are getting out of hand and tell the player that they should find the truth about why the massive mass outbreaks keep happening.
To complete this request, the player must catch and/or defeat all the Pokemon from three of the massive mass outbreaks in the Coronet Highlands.
The player must catch or defeat all the Pokemon in one of the massive mass outbreaks for it to be considered that it has been investigated, and this must be done before the outbreak disappears. The player can give Mai’s Munchlax five Aguav Berries by talking to Mai to find out what Pokemon are appearing at each of the massive mass outbreaks while they are ongoing.
In the player’s map, it will not initially show the Pokemon that will appear in the massive mass outbreaks unless the player goes to it or Munchlax is fed with Aguav Berries. The Pokemon icons with a sparkle mark on the top left mean that it is a special mass outbreak, while Pokemon icons with an orange berry mark mean that the player may receive Aguav Berries in that mass outbreak. It is also worth noting that additional Pokemon may appear after the player completes the investigation.
As the massive mass outbreaks will only appear when it is raining and will disappear after some time, it is recommended to try out the three massive mass outbreaks nearest to the Highlands Camp unless there are Pokemon in the massive mass outbreaks you want to catch.
Once the massive mass outbreak ends, the player must wait for a new one. The player can restart the map a couple of times until a new massive mass outbreak appears by returning to Jubilife Village and then heading back to the Coronet Highlands. Once the massive mass outbreaks are back, the map will again not show the Pokemon that will appear in the massive mass outbreaks unless the player goes to it or Munchlax is fed with Aguav Berries.
After catching or defeating all the Pokemon from three Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Coronet Highlands, head back to Mai, still with her Munchlax, near any of the Base Camps in the Coronet Highlands. Talk to her, and she will tell the player that they have learned all they can from the Coronet Highlands for now. Then, Adaman will appear and, after selecting a response from the prompt, he will say that he has heard the people in the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan are helping in investigating the massive mass outbreak, and he figured he would grab all the supplies he could find that might come in handy.
Adaman will give the player 100 Spoiled Apricorns, 100 Balls of Mud, and 100 Caster Fern Leaves so that the player can craft 100 Sticky Globs. Mai will then tell Adaman how proud she is of how far Adaman has come. After that, Adaman will wonder and ask the player if the massive mass outbreaks are some trial from Dialga or Palkia. After selecting a response from the prompt, Adaman will say that it feels like it and that someone is telling them to face a real test with their partner Pokemon and take on these Pokemon from the massive mass outbreaks.
After Adaman leaves, Mai will tell the player that the Alabaster Icelands is the next step in their investigation, and that is one more steep hurdle for them to overcome. She will then say that she and her Munchlax will wait for the player near the Front Gate of Jubilife Village and that the player should join them once the player is ready for another survey.
Finally, the player will be rewarded with 30 Apricorns, 30 Tumblestones, and 20 Balls of Mud for your efforts. The ‘Massive Mass Outbreak on the Highlands’ Request is now complete!
Now that you have completed the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
