Leave the app and come back

A quick fix that generally solves the Pokemon Go freezing problem is by closing the app and then reopening it again. This will reconnect to Niantic’s servers and get back to the game.

  1. Press the Home button and go back to the Home screen.
  2. Open a new app.
  3. Then Double-press the Home button to view the multitasking screen.
  4. Change to the Pokémon Go card.
  5. Select on the Pokémon Go card to reenter the app.

How to fix Pokémon Go freezes

If you don’t know if Pokemon Go frozen because of bad Internet connection or the game is frozen, look for the spinning white Pokéball in the upper left corner. If you see this white spinning Pokeball on your screen then you know that Niantic’s servers are being refreshed. If your screen is frozen but that Pokéball icon is spinning, then that can also mean that Pokemon Go is trying to connect back to the central server.

But if your screen moving, and the buttons don’t do anything this could mean that you’ve lost connection to the server and need to reboot Pokemon Go to get it working again.

Reboot and bug report

If Pokemon Go keeps crashing and you keep having to reload Pokemon Go over and over again, this could mean that theres a bug or issue with the app. It’s suggested that you report the bug to Niantic, so they can solve the issue and stop it from happening in the future. Below we’ll explain how you can report the bug happening on Pokemon Go.

  1. Press the Home button and go back to the Home screen.
  2. Open the multitasking screen by Double-pressing the Home button.
  3. Change to the Pokémon Go card, then swipe up on the card to force quit the app.
  4. Relaunch Pokémon Go.
  5. Visit the Pokémon Go bug report page and let Niantic know about your issue.
