Listen well as I regale you with a tale from the days of old. There was a time, when I was younger than I am now, where we lived free of the many burdens we’ve since come to accept. We called that time the Golden Age. There was no vault of content. The sun never set. Our land was full of hungry warriors who all wanted to know how to get Breakneck in Destiny 2 — just as you do today. They traveled from all over the world, filling every Gambit arena to the brim in search of it.
And then the Collapse. Perhaps it was inevitable, but the sun eventually set. The places we loved to go and the things we loved to do — they were taken from us. Locked away.
The Breakneck returned. But it was different.
Breakneck can be purchased in the Tower
If you want to know how to get Breakneck in Destiny 2, look no further than the Monument to Lost Lights. It is the kiosk in the Tower that grants access to the weapons of yore. All the old favorites once given away as gifts to the exemplary can be found here — purchasable with materials and other currencies.
In order to get your Breakneck, you must have the following. Check your inventory to make sure everything is accounted for.
- 75,000 Glimmer
- 100 Legendary Shards
- 2 Enhancement Prisms
- 1 Ascendant Shard
When you’re sure you have all that you need, open the Monument and head to the section labeled, “Legacy Gear.” From there, you’ll find Breakneck under “Gambit Weapons.” Go ahead and make the purchase. Just like that, you own Breakneck.
And that’s how to get Breakneck in Destiny 2
It is very much worth mentioning, by the way, that this particular flavor of Breakneck is one that won’t be of much use to you in activities where Power Level matters. That is because Breakneck was the victim of sunsetting before that decision was reversed. Newer weapons are not subject to a Power cap. Unfortunately, older ones hit by this scourge still bear its mark.
My sincere wish is that Bungie looks back to our Golden Age and feels regret. My next wish is that Bungie attempts to make amends. A good first step would be to bring back abandoned weapons like Breakneck. It can’t make up for everything, but it’s a start.
