Imagine a Destiny 2 Sniper Rifle shaped like a Sword. It has a default magazine of four rounds, but you can combine all of those rounds into one ultra powerful shot if you so choose. Sounds pretty good, right? That is Izanagi’s Burden, an Exotic Sniper Rifle that, for a long while, was a favorite for dealing damage against bosses. If you’re wondering how to get Izanagi’s Burden in Destiny 2 these days, the process is a bit different. Here’s what you need to do.

How to get Izanagi's Burden in Destiny 2

Izanagi’s Burden once came from a puzzle and Quest tied to the Black Armory Forges

Once upon a time, getting Izanagi’s Burden was a bit more tricky. There was a whole elaborate puzzle that involved locating a box near the Volundr Forge, shooting down some drones at all the Forges to get keys, then getting one last key by killing Watchers on the Leviathan. All that, and then there were still like five more steps in the Quest, like clearing the Shattered Throne and doing a tougher Pyramidion Strike. It was pretty involved.

Rather fortunately for you, the Destiny Content Vault swept up all of the Forges, the Leviathan, the Pyramidion, and so much other content that it’ll make your head spin. Still, there does exist a way for you to get Izanagi’s Burden if you really want it.

Monument to Lost Lights

If you’re wondering how to get Izanagi’s Burden in Destiny 2 these days, all you need to do is make a trip to the Tower and visit the Monument to Lost Lights. Make sure you have the following currencies and materials at the ready:

Once you’ve got all that handy, just open the Monument and enter the group called “Forsaken Exotics.” When you’re in there, you’ll find Izanagi’s Burden sitting in the fifth spot. You can then snag it and skip all of that nonsense everyone had to do back in 2018-2019.

That’s how to get Izanagi’s Burden in Destiny 2

This Exotic Sniper Rifle can still do whopping damage numbers if you choose to go with it. However, the slow reload — especially when combining rounds for that more powerful blast — could slow your output a bit. This is a good gun for phased bosses, really, or for taking into the Crucible if you want to take out opponents in one body shot.

Enjoy this one! And be sure to check out that new Buster Sword ornament for it, too. It is perhaps one of the best weapon ornaments in the game right now.
