When Bows were introduced in Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion, players got a mid-to-long range weapon option that sits somewhere in between Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles. Most Bows can take an opposing Guardian down in one headshot and one body shot. Most Bows, however, aren’t Leviathan’s Breath — the game’s lone Heavy Bow. Levi is a monster: it can take a Guardian out in a single shot, and does massive boss damage to boot. If you’re wondering how to get Leviathan’s Breath in Destiny 2, here’s a quick walkthrough.

How to get Leviathan's Breath in Destiny 2

Leviathan’s Breath used to have a neat Quest tied to it

Back before the Destiny Content Vault became a thing, one got themselves a Leviathan’s Breath by completing a Quest that started and ended in the Tower. Banshee-44 — the game’s Gunsmith — has a secret room in the Tower players needed to search out, and as it happens, you can still find this room today by going into the Hangar, making your way to the top floor, walking through the duct that leads back toward the Courtyard, and entering the door to the left once you reach the meeting room.

Sadly, the DCV did away with this Quest, meaning you no longer get to go through the normal process of obtaining a Levi that everyone else did. However, you aren’t totally out of luck when it comes to snagging yourself a copy of this weapon. There’s still another way you can get yourself this Heavy Bow, so let’s break that down.

Leviathan’s Breath can be purchased in the Tower

Monument to Lost Lights

The process for how to get Leviathan’s Breath in Destiny 2 now involves a trip to the Tower and the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk located there. Before you go, though, you should ensure you have the following currencies and materials handy:

Once you have all that, open the Monument to Lost Lights and navigate to the section called “Shadowkeep Exotics.” Once you’re there, you should see Leviathan’s Breath sitting in the number one slot. If you have the materials listed above, you should be able to go ahead and purchase it.

And that’s how to get Leviathan’s Breath in Destiny 2

Leviathan’s Breath is my second favorite Bow in the game (I’ll always love you, Subtle Calamity), and is perhaps tied for the honor of my favorite Heavy weapon in the game (along with Sleeper Simulant). This weapon is tons of fun to use in Crucible, and is immensely useful in high level activities where you need to take a huge chunk out of an enemy’s health very quickly.

I hope you enjoy this Bow as I have since it was introduced several years ago. Get it, take it into some activities, and see what you think of it. I’m willing to bet it’ll find a spot in at least one of your loadouts.
