Let’s be honest with ourselves: the ritual weapons in Destiny 2 have been pretty weak for the past year or so. We’ve been missing those absolute game-changers like Mountaintop or Recluse. Instead, we’ve gotten pretty forgettable additions like Python and, yes, Randy’s Throwing Knife. Perhaps you’re a collector, though, and you really want all the weapons in the game. That’s what is sending you on this pursuit. If that’s the case, then you’ll need to know how to get Randy’s Throwing Knife in Destiny 2.
The process is fairly simple.
Randy’s Throwing Knife was part of a Crucible ritual quest
Randy’s Throwing Knife is a Scout Rifle that debuted back in 2019. In order to get it, you had to reach the rank of “Fabled” in the Crucible’s Competitive Playlist. Randy’s came out after the difficulty of ranking up had been adjusted, so reaching that bar was a lot easier to do. Perhaps that’s why the weapon isn’t anything out of the ordinary.
It’s not that the gun doesn’t have good perks — it comes stock with two per column, enabling you to choose Rapid Hit/Snapshot Sights and Kill Clip/Zen Moment. Unfortunately, it got hit by Sunsetting in 2020, and also fell victim to Scout Rifles that can roll with the same perks but better stats.
You can purchase Randy’s Throwing Knife in the Tower
If you’re unfamiliar with the Monument to Lost Lights, think of it as a sort of catch-up machine. If there are Legendary or Exotic items you missed out on during a Season, the Monument likely has them for sale.
The steps for how to get Randy’s Throwing knife in Destiny 2 involve buying it from this kiosk, which is found near the Vault terminals in the Tower. In order to secure it, though, you’ll need the following resources and currencies:
- 75,000 Glimmer
- 100 Legendary Shards
- 2 Enhancement Prisms
- 1 Ascendant Shard
Once you have all of that in your inventory, open up the Monument and enter the “Legacy Gear” section. There, you’ll see Randy’s Throwing Knife in the “Crucible” row. Go ahead and make the buy.
And that’s how to get Randy’s Throwing Knife in Destiny 2
I remain unimpressed by Randy’s, just as much as I was back in the day when it released. However, you shouldn’t go off of my opinion alone. There were definitely those who loved it. It had its fans.
These days, however, there are other Scouts that are eager and willing to grab your attention — especially those that are able to be infused up to the current Power Level (Randy’s can’t). We’ll be going in depth on the best Scout Rifles in the game pretty soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
