Like many weapons in Destiny 2, the Exotic Hand Cannon Thorn is a returning gun from the original Destiny. This weapon used to rule the first game’s Crucible mode, and though it doesn’t hit quite as hard in the sequel, it’s still something worth having in your arsenal. Which leads to the question: where is it? Today, we’re running you through how to get Thorn in Destiny 2. By the end, you’ll should know all you need to in order to make this gun your very own.

How to get Thorn in Destiny 2

Getting Thorn used to involve a Quest

It wasn’t that ago that getting your hands on Thorn in Destiny 2 was a real chore. There was a fairly decent Questline that required you to complete a whole bunch of Bounties, get a slew of kills in Crucible, and then complete the Strike Savathun’s Song on a pretty high difficulty setting. I remember doing that Strike very vividly. It pretty much required you to have two pals who were also committed to doing it, and to dying an awful lot so you all could finally have Thorn.

Nowadays, thanks to the Destiny Content Vault, a lot of what you needed to do the original quest has been cut out. The Io, Titan, and Mars destinations have been locked away in storage. And because Titan is no longer in the game, you can’t run the Savathun’s Song Strike, either.

Fortunately, there is still a way for you to get Thorn if you really want it. And boy, is it much easier.

You can now buy Thorn

Monument to Lost Lights

The answer for how to get Thorn in Destiny 2 now — post Destiny Content Vault — is as simple as visiting the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower. Go there, and make sure you have the following items in your inventory:

When you’re positive you have all of those currencies and materials ready, open the Monument and jump into the section labeled “Forsaken Exotics.” Once you’re in, you’ll see Thorn sitting in the sixth spot from the left. You should be able to go ahead and buy it.

And that’s how to get Thorn in Destiny 2

As mentioned, the above purchasing method is a whole heck of a lot easier than the previous path you had to walk for Thorn. Don’t believe me? Here’s absolute Destiny god Esoterickk soloing the “Chasm of Screams” version of Savathun’s Song, but taking 29 minutes to do so because of how incredibly easy it was for anything in this scaled-up Strike to kill you.

I hope you truly appreciate that you get to skip this! With that, enjoy your new Thorn.
