One could argue that Twitter is a giant cesspool where good feelings go to die; where trolls rule and gaining even the tiniest following sentences you to a life of dodging messages from people who suck. But God bless Hugh Jackman. The man does all he can to infuse that place with some fun. On Saturday, he struck again, posting a video of an encounter he had with a police officer in New York.
Jackman was approached by officer John Dobkowski, and — like most people would — initially thought he was in trouble. When he realized he wasn’t, he used the opportunity to record the officer making a hilarious request to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.
“Hey Ryan, you’ve got to get this guy in Deadpool 3, even if it’s for a ten-minute cameo,” Officer Dobkowski said. “That would be so awesome. That movie will be so cool. So great. It will blow the box office.”
Your move, Ryan Reynolds.
For those who aren’t insanely deep into this whole universe, Jackman isn’t practically throwing himself at Deadpool 3 for no reason whatsoever. Deadpool is considered part of the X-Men series of films, and Ryan Reynolds actually played the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which — ding ding ding — starred Hugh Jackman. So it seems like Jackman is just (jokingly) looking for Reynolds to repay a Hollywood debt.
Will we get to see Hugh Jackman in the next Deadpool movie? That remains to be seen. For now, at least, you can have a laugh courtesy of Wolverine himself. And who doesn’t want that? Who could possibly hate Hugh Jackman?
