It’s finally here. After multiple delays, God of War Ragnarok is officially set to launch in the next few weeks. Just in, PlayStation has dropped a new launch trailer for the game, and it hypes up Kratos and Atreus trying to stop the prophesized Ragnarok.
Admittedly, Santa Monica Studios has been very sparing when it comes to the reveals for God of War Ragnarok. We’re expecting to go up against Odin and the rest of the gods in the game, but we’ve barely seen any of them. Even Thor, who is probably the most anticipated character since the first game, can only be glimpsed for a few seconds in the previews.
With the first game teasing multiple mythologies, Ragnarok is expected to end the Norse arc of God of War. We don’t know where the story will go moving forward, but it should be interesting to see the growing relationship between Kratos and his son—especially now since Atreus is growing to be more independent.
Who knows, maybe the franchise ends with Atreus taking over the God of War mantle, leading the future games, but I’m just going to wait and see what happens. At this point, I just think Kratos is just too tired for all this violence, and though it’s cool, I think storywise his character progression can’t stay here for too long.
Join Kratos and Atreus on a mythic journey for answers before the prophesied battle that will end the world.
All the while, the eyes of Asgard watch their every move…
God of War Ragnarok launches for PlayStation 4|5 on Nov. 9.
