PLAY 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD

In June, Lexar showcased the PLAY 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD alongside its new line of storage solutions at the 2024 Computex Show. In a recent press release, the brand officially announced the release of the storage solution, which is specifically designed for avid gamers.

This SSD focuses on enhancing the gaming experience for enthusiasts. It offers 7400MB/s max read and 6500MB/s max write speeds. These exceptional read/write speeds significantly reduce loading times, ensuring seamless gameplay.

The SSD has been tested and approved for the PS5 console, enabling you to play games directly from it without transferring or deleting them from your console. This is made possible with the heatsink built into the SSD and optimized for PS5 to maintain ultra-performance during gaming. However, the max speed is capped at 5500 MB/s for PS5.

As mentioned earlier, the SSD comes with storage capacities of up to 8TB. This provides players with enough storage to install games with high space requirements, such as the recently released Black Myth: Wukong.

However only the 4TB model is currently available, priced at an MSRP of $379.99. The 2TB and 8TB models are expected to be released in Q4 2024.

One standout feature of this portable SSD is its versatility; it can be used not only with the PS5 but also for PC gaming. It’s equipped with Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and SLC Dynamic cache to deliver enhanced performance, faster data transfer, and overall optimization when used with a PC.
