It goes without saying that you shouldn’t smoke near a gas pump. However, that doesn’t stop some Darwin Award contenders from doing it on occasion. In one particular instance, however, the gas station attendant on duty wasn’t having it. In this one case, the attendant had the presence of mind to save everyone in close proximity, and did it in the most hilarious way imaginable (h/t BoingBoing).
The Smoking Man, as we’ll call him — surely that has never been used before — is on the right side of the screen. As you can see, he notices the gas station attending coming out and around his vehicle. He continues to watch the attendant make his way to the side of the pump where the fire extinguisher is kept. And then:
Amazing. You’ve gotta wonder what the guy the next car over was thinking. He seems unfazed by the whole thing.
Unfortunately, it’s not clear where this occurred or when. I sincerely hope, though, that this gas station attendant was given a raise, or some kind of prize for this act of heroism. I also hope the driver never got to hear the end of it from anyone who witnessed this video or heard his story.
