It has been said that NetheRealm Studios is planning to release Mortal Kombat 12 this year, but it’s almost June, and we have no trailer in sight.

The official Twitter account has decided to drop a teaser for an MK12 reveal, hinting at a possible series reboot. Check this out:
We see a clock ticking toward the number 12, and though it looks like things are ramping up to something huge, the switch to 1 acts as some reset, with the explosion on the clockface disappearing.
Mortal Kombat 11’s main villain Kronika is a manipulator of time. With her defeat in the last game, we could look at more time-traveling shenanigans for MK 12.
Some fans are guessing that the studio is looking to do a reboot of the original Mortal Kombat; that’s why the clock skips the 12 and moves right to 1. Regarding available fighters in that roster, we have seven to choose from—Johnny Cage, Kano, Raiden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Sonya Blade. It’s the MK2 roster that expands with Mileena, Kung Lao, Reptile, Jax, Baraka, and Shang Tsung.
With fighting game sequels, fans expect an ever-expanding roster with new characters, but modern games keep a solid handful of characters with some classic characters coming and going. We don’t know what NetherRealm plans to do next, but I hope for a tie-in with the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie to help excite both properties.
No release date has been announced for Mortal Kombat 12.
