Hideo Kojima had wanted to push the limits of video game storytelling with Death Stranding. Though the game was not for everyone, many critics agreed it was an interesting direction to take the medium. That being said, Rogue Factor and Nacon have just released a new trailer for Hell is Us, and players are getting some serious Death Stranding vibes from it.
Watch the trailer:
We have not looked at the gameplay yet but did find a story description via Push Square. It reads:
“Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure game set in a semi-open world where the main character sets out to learn more about his past in a country ravaged by civil war. The almost total self-sufficiency of the country hides a dark secret: the recent appearance of supernatural creatures resembling ancient headstones and monuments in the region. The citizens call this phenomenon “the Calamity.” Armed with weapons specially forged to fight these monsters, the protagonist must learn how to defeat them and use his equipment wisely.”
As I said, the trailer gives off many Death Stranding vibes. Besides the complicated mechanism mounted on the protagonist’s shoulder, we also have a batch of presumably dead bodies filled with holes. There is also the case of the fuzzy soundtrack that sounds like it came from an A24 movie.
It is only a teaser for now, but hopefully, we will get a bigger reveal when the game gets closer to release.
No specific release date has been announced for Hell is Us, but the game is expected to be available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC sometime in 2023.
