Snapping pictures of new Pokemon is the only reliable way to access more levels in the new Pokemon Snap. However, the game isn’t very descriptive on how to unlock certain levels, and some require particular pre-requisites or steps that aren’t explained in the game. This article will explain how to unlock more levels and raise your research level fastest to do so.
Unlocking New Levels in New Pokemon Snap
There are 24 levels in Pokemon Snap, and you begin with only one. For most of the other levels, you’ll need to upgrade your research level on some of the previous ones, although the level unlocks aren’t linear between locations. This means that you’ll unlock some locations, then go back to previous ones for levels that take place during the night. Each level has different Pokemon to find and some distinct features, improving the game’s replayability.
Here’s a list of all levels and how they’re unlocked in roughly sequential order:
- Florio Island Nature Park Daytime: This is the level you start on.
- Florio Island Nature Park Nighttime: You need to unlock Research Level 2 in Nature Park Daytime.
- Florio Island Illumina Spot: The player will need to take a picture of the Illumina Bulb and complete the Nature Park Nighttime level.
- Belusylva Jungle Daytime: This level is unlocked by finishing Florio Islands Illumina Spot.
- Belusylva Jungle Nighttime: You’ll need to get Research Level 2 in the Jungle Daytime level.
- Maricopia Islands Blushing Beach Daytime: Access this level by reaching Research Level 2 in the Jungle Nighttime level.
- Maricopia Islands Reef Daytime: This level can be unlocked by getting Research Level 2 in the Beach Daytime level.
- Maricopia Islands Undersea: This level is unlocked by finishing the Reef Daytime level.
- Maricopia Islands Illumina Spot: You must find a secret path at the Maricopia Undersea level. This path is shown after you reach Research Level 3 in that level. Once the path is accessible, follow Clawitzer using an Illumina Orb, then power up the scanner.
- Voluca Islands Sweltering Sands Daytime: This level can be reached by getting Research Level 2 in Belusylva Jungle Nighttime.
- Voluca Sweltering Sands Nighttime: Access this area by reaching Research Level 2 on Voluca Sweltering Sands Daytime.
- Voluca Islands Volcano: You unlock this level by getting Research Level 2 in Sands Nighttime (previous level) and Maricopia Islands Undersea.
- Belusylva Forest: This level is unlocked by reaching Research Level 2 in the Voluca Islands Volcano.
- Belusylva Illumina Spot: You can reach this level by getting Research Level 1 in the Belusylva Forest.
- Voluca Islands Illumina Spot: You’ll need to have Research Level 2 in the Belusylva Forest to get this level.
- Florio Island Research Camp: To unlock this location, you’ll need to get Research Level 1 in the Voluca Islands Volcano.
- Durice Island Snowfields Daytime: Either get Research Level 1 in the Maricopia Undersea or snap Illumina forms of Volcarona, Meganium, Wishiwashi, and Milotic.
- Durice Island Snowfields Nighttime: Reach Research Level 2 in the Snowfields Daytime to unlock this level.
- Maricopia Islands Beach Nighttime: This area becomes accessible by reaching Research Level 2 in the Snowfields Nighttime scene.
- Durice Island Cave: You can unlock this level simultaneously as the Beach Nighttime by reaching Snowfields Nighttime Research Level 2.
- Durice Island Illumina Spot: Get to Research Level 2 in the Durice Island Cave to unlock this one.
- Aurus Island Ruins: You can visit these Ruins after getting Research Level 2 in the Durice Island Illumina Spot.
- Aurus Island Illumina Spot: This location is acquired by lighting all Crystalblooms in the Aurus Ruins.
- Maricopia Island Reef Evening: Final level in the game, reached after unlocking all others.
As a rule of thumb, getting Research Level 2 on a scene will unlock one or two more levels, and you’ll have to repeat this for every scene to unlock the game. There are only a few distinct unlocking methods, but they can be typically earned during normal gameplay.
