The Butterfly’s Emissary is one of the earliest Deviant you will obtain in Once Human. Here’s how to get and use this marvelous butterfly.

Once Human: How to Get and Use Butterfly Emissary

The Deviation O-001, or Butterfly Emissary, is a collective entity of red origami butterflies. Once collected and placed into your cradle, you can aim for and select a target, and the butterfly will attack the assigned target.

Their ability to distract and damage enemies makes them a crucial ally in the early stages of your journey. Keep reading to learn how to get and use the Butterfly Emissary.

How to Get Butterfly Emissary

There are various ways to obtain Butterfly’s Emissary in Once Human. These include:

Completing the Tutorial

The easiest way to obtain the Butterfly’s Emissary is by completing The Eve of Evolution tutorial quest. At the end of the introductory questline, you will be given your first deviant, which is the Butterfly’s Emissary.

Exploring the GAIA Research Center Ruins

A quick way to get Butterfly’s Emissary in the overworld is by entering GAIA Research Center Ruins in Broken Delta (4122, -6303). Note that you need to be at least level 18 and above to clear this area, as there will be soldiers guarding the research center.

Head to the building as indicated in the map above. Once inside, head downstairs, which is located at the back of the room. You should find the butterfly emissary once you turn right after reaching the landing. STAY ALERT!! There are enemies near the deviant and more below.

How to Use Butterfly Emissary

Once you have collected the Butterfly’s Emissary, place them inside an isolated securement unit before using them in combat. An isolated securement unit can only be built in your territory.

If possible, meet the deviant’s needs by adding Green Lights and Flowers near the Securement Unit to maximize its mood and power.

Synchronize with Butterfly Emissary

With your Butterfly’s Emissary stored inside the Isolated Securement Unit, interact with it by Pressing ‘F’ on your keyboard. Click Synchronize to have your Butterfly’s Emissary sync into your Cradle. This grants you the ability to summon and command your deviant in combat.

Use Butterfly Emissary in Combat

Make sure the Butterfly’s Emissary is inside your Cradle otherwise you won’t be able to summon them in combat. While engaging in combat with the enemies, Hold ‘E’ to open your cradle menu. This will allow you to select three options:

  • Designated Target – Command your Deviant to attack the target you’re aiming at. If no target is in sight, the deviant will attack any nearby enemies until they’re defeated or run out of deviant power.
  • Auto Attack – Selecting Auto Attack increases the Weakspot DMG against the enemy but will cost more deviant power.
  • Securing – This will recall Butterfly’s Emissary back to your Cradle.

Conclusion

You technically only need one since Butterfly’s Emissary is a combat-type deviant. We recommend completing the tutorial after the character creation to get the butterfly. It saves you the grind of having to clear difficult dungeons.
