Life is all fine and dandy when you are a dainty ghost floating around, minding your own business in the dark corridors of a haunted mansion. But if you are a Sim who is not a huge fan of those creepy bug-a-boos, and you want none of those in your house, what better way to do it than to hire a Paranormal Investigator? The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack is all about the spooky, strange occurrences in the old Haunted Residential house. It also introduces a new career for your occult-loving Sims, The Paranormal Investigator.

How to Become a Paranormal Investigator in The Sims 4

Today, we will learn several ways of becoming a skilled medium and discuss all the tips and tricks to ace that Paranormal Investigator profession.

Appeasing ghosts, performing a séance, and destroying accursed artifacts, your Sims can now finally live the Ghostbusters life that they have always wanted, and those ghastly encounters are just the tip of the iceberg.

Getting Started with your new Paranormal Investigator Career

There are two paths you can choose, the easy way and the hard way. The easy path can cost you a lot of points — perk points, that is. You can buy a Paranormal Investigator License in the Rewards Store for a staggering amount of 3,000 perk points. If you decide to take the easy path, you will have to first train your Sim to become a professional Medium. Increasing your Medium Skill to Level 5 will help you perform well in your nightly duties, considering that working as a Paranormal Expert is no cakewalk in this DLC.

Getting the Paranormal Investigator job the hard way is a lengthy process, but it will help you save up that 3,000 perk points which you can highly benefit from for future spooky shenanigans.

Tips on how to be a Paranormal Investigator Expert

Your work starts at 9:30 PM, and it is an 8-hour shift, so expect many unexpected occurrences and moodlet changes along the way. There are a couple of practices you can do if you want to be a successful Paranormal Investigator, and here are some of those methods:

  • Before heading to work, make sure that your Sim has filled all their needs. You don’t want them to get too tired or hungry while they are off pacifying specters.

  • Have positive moodlets to avoid being tense on the job. Your Sim will face many tasks that could send shivers down their spine. Even if they are already skilled mediums, too much exposure to nearby specters or slipping on ectoplasmic slimes can still cause them negative moodlets. This is where we could use our precious perk points to buy a few potions, the downside is, their effects can only last for a few hours. So it would be better to purchase rewards with a permanent effect like the Brave trait. Thankfully, you can rack up plenty of perk points while living inside a Haunted Residential Lot. If you do not want to spend your perk points, you can do the things that can satisfy your Sim before going to work.
  • To make sure you can be efficient in your job, start working on simple, less time-consuming tasks such as kicking all the accursed dolls and plants before moving on to mopping all the symbols and slimes.

  • Appease specters by offering them handmade objects saves a lot of time. Giving ghosts offerings may be the least practical option. Especially now that you have to spend all your time when your Sim is off-duty making offerings like paintings or alcoholic drinks. But if you have a non-committal or a loner Sim, that would not be much of a problem at all. You can make them dedicate their entire lives to ensuring that both the physical and spiritual world is a safer place to live in.
