After an unforgettably disastrous launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has been slowly regaining interest. Besides the upcoming Netflix series Edgerunners, developers CD Projekt Red have now given us a look at the upcoming expansion Phantom Liberty.
Watch this:
I, V, do solemnly swear that I shall faithfully serve the New United States of America.
Get ready for Phantom Liberty — a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all new district of Night City.
We don’t really get much when it comes to story, but we do have a familiar voiceover which confirms that Keanu Reeves will be coming back for the expansion to reprise the role of Johnny Silverhand. With the whole pledge of allegiance in the trailer, I think this expansion is going to have V going up against another global superpower—really keeping it to the ‘punk’ theme of the game. Let’s just hope they didn’t overwork some developers like they did with the first launch.
With a release set for next year, it could be a while before we get a look at Phantom Liberty again, but for now I’m just excited to come back to Night City. So far, the game hasn’t been able to shake off the bad press it got at launch, but with all the fixes, and the upcoming expansion, maybe it’s time for some people to finally jump in on the Cyberpunk hype train.
No specific release date has been set for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, but the expansion is expected to launch sometime in 2023 for the PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.
