The player is the only person who can choose what to do in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Options include disbanding the evil Team Star, catching every Pokemon to fill out the Pokedex, learning about the new Titan Pokemon, or taking down every Pokemon Gym to be the Champion and the very best like no one ever was.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Gym Leader Kofu Rematch Guide

After all that has been done, the player can still complete many tasks in the post-game. One of them is to request a rematch at each Pokemon Gym!

This guide will teach you everything you need to know for your rematch against Kofu, Cascarrafa’s Gym Leader! Consider this your spoiler alert for the game’s main story ending!

The Beginning of the Post Game

The player will be returned to their dorm room and summoned to Director Clavell’s office after completing the game’s final main quest, “The Way Home,” and the credit roll. Exit the dorm room and choose “Director’s Office” from the prompt.

Director Clavell will address Penny, Nemona, Arven, and the player, stating that he is not angry but would like to discuss their accomplishment in shutting down the time machine, which prevented the ancient/future Pokemon from destroying the Paldea region’s ecosystem. Director Clavell will also say that he is willing to overlook that they were forced to enter a restricted area. Director Clavell will then give the player a Master Ball.

After a few exchanges, Nemona will suggest holding a Pokemon battle at the academy to commemorate the player becoming a Champion.

Then, Top Champion Geeta will enter the room and say that the Pokemon League would be delighted to assist with the organization of this contest before proposing that both students and faculty compete for the title of strongest trainer at the academy, as everyone has the potential to be the best.

Then, Top Champion Geeta will decline to participate unless the player assists her with her work. Select “I’d be delighted to assist!” on the prompt, and Top Champion Geeta will request that the player inspect the various Pokemon Gyms in the Paldea region on her behalf to ensure that they continue to serve as beacons of strength and inspiration for all those aspiring to the Champion Rank.

She then explains that the player can achieve this by bringing their full force as Champion and challenging each Pokemon Gym Leader to a battle. Next, Top Champion Geeta and Penny will depart to complete some tasks.

Shortly after that, the player can now challenge the Pokemon Gym Leaders to a rematch!

Gym Leader Kofu can be found inside the Cascarrafa Gym located in the southeastern part of the city of Cascarrafa, which is directly west of the Great Crater of Paldea (southwest of Medali or east of Asado Desert) and can be reached by following the main path of the west of Cortondo through West Province (Area One).

Upon entering the Cascarrafa Gym building, approach Gym Leader Kofu near the receptionist, and Gym Leader Kofu will welcome the player even though he was expecting somebody else.

Select any of the responses from the prompt, and Gym Leader Kofu will realize that the player is here on behalf of Top Champion Geeta.

Gym Leader Kofu will then compare the player to one of those fish Pokemon that completely changes shape and name as it evolves.

Next, as the player is here to test the Gym Leader’s abilities, select “Yes” on the prompt when Gym Leader Kofu asks if the player is ready to battle and see if he is still fit to be called a Gym Leader, then the player will be brought to the battle court of the city!

Crabominable is a Fighting and Ice-type Pokemon, but as Gym Leader Kofu will Terastallize his Crabominable, it will become a Water-type because of its Tera Type, which means it also now has a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Also, watch out for the Ability of Gym Leader Kofu’s Pelipper, Drizzle, as changing the weather to Rain will boost Water-type moves by 50% as long as it is active. The player can counter this by using Pokemon that are resistant to Water type moves

After winning the battle, Gym Leader Kofu will say that he did not expect any less from someone who has Top Champion Geeta’s seal of approval, and the player’s youthful vigor got his motivation flowing up like a rising tide. Finally, he will tell the player to tell Top Champion Geeta that Gym Leader Kofu is flowing and crashing more than ever.

The player can proceed to challenge other Gym Leaders in rematches and other post-game quests after defeating Gym Leader Kofu in the rematch!
