Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an open-world game where the player is a transferee in a huge school in the Paldea Region. In the game, the player and the player only gets to decide whatever they want to do: whether to track down Titan Pokemon, defeat all the Pokemon Gyms, become the champion, and become the very best like no one ever was, to defeat the nefarious Team Star, or simply just complete the Pokedex and catch them all!

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Levincia Gym (Electric type) Guide

Here, we will talk about defeating Pokemon Gyms, which are part of the ‘Victory Road’ quest line, and in this guide, we will talk about defeating the Electric-type Pokemon Gym in Levincia City!

Levincia Gym

The Levincia Gym can be found in the southwestern part of, well, Levincia City, which is the second city in the east of Mesagoza City just ahead of the path of East Province (Area Two) (or can be found northwest of Artazon City or southeast of East Province Area Three).

Before the player can head and reach Levincia, the Schedar Squad, Team Star’s Fire Crew, will be blocking the path that leads to Levincia. So, the player must first defeat Team Star’s Fire Crew in the East Province (Area One) just along the path of the Pokemon Center in the area. After defeating Mela and Team Star’s Fire Crew, the path to Levincia will now be passable.

Gym Test

Before the player can start battling against the Gym Leader of a Pokemon Gym, there is a new mechanic in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet where the player must complete a Gym Test to prove that the player can take on the Gym Leader. Every Pokemon Gym has its Gym Test, and the Gym Test in the Levincia Gym is the “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout”!

To start the Levincia Gym Test, let the player head inside the Levincia Gym and talk to the receptionist just ahead of the entrance. Then the receptionist will tell the player that the player must first complete the Gym Test to face the Gym Leader, Iono, which means starring in one of Iono’s streams. The receptionist will then explain that, aside from being the Gym Leader in the city, Iono is also a streamer, so they want the player to dazzle Iono’s audience with the player’s skills and rack up Iono’s subscribers. Then, the receptionist will explain how to start the Levincia Gym Test simply by heading outside the Gym.

After talking to the receptionist, exit the Levincia Gym, and there, the player will be stopped by Iono and feature the player in her stream called the Iono Zone. Iono will then introduce herself to the player as the Gym Leader in the city and say her catchphrase, “‘Ello, ‘ello, hola! Ciao and Bonjour!”. Iono will then say that as she is also a bit of a celeb and all kinds of busy, she can’t “collab” with the player unless she knows that the player can bring real passion to her stream, which the player can do by helping her make the livestream a viral hit. She will then explain that to do this; the player must take part in the Gym Test she will call “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout.”

To complete the “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout” Gym Test, Iono will explain that the player must find Director Clavell, who Iono calls Mr. Walksabout, because she saw that Director Clavell had a natural aura about him when he was walking. Hence, she got him for her Gym Test, using the street surveillance cameras three times. After that, the Gym test will start!

For the first street surveillance video feed, the player must find Director Clavell in the street near the Levincia Gym building. Director Clavell can be found sitting behind the shaft of the second umbrella from the right.

After finding Director Clavell in the first street surveillance video feed, the player would first have to battle one of Iono’s fans before moving on to the second street surveillance video feed. Iono’s fan will only use one Pokemon, a Level 22 Luxio. With that in mind, it is worth noting that Luxio is an Electric-type Pokemon with a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric type, Flying type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

After that, the player will be shown the second street surveillance video feed, where the player must find Director Clavell in the street near the Pokemon Center in the northern part of the city. Director Clavell can be found on the left side of the screen inside the Pokemon Center in place of the nurse the player talks to heal the player’s Pokemon.

After finding Director Clavell in the second street surveillance video feed, the player would again have to battle another one of Iono’s fans before moving on to the third and last street surveillance video feed. Iono’s fans will use two Pokemon: a Level 22 Tynamo and a Level 22 Flaaffy. With that in mind, it is worth noting that Tynamo and Flaaffy are both Electric-type Pokemon which means they also have a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

After that, the player will be shown the third street surveillance video feed, where the player must find Director Clavell, given the battle court in the middle of Levincia. Director Clavell can be found on the right side of the screen on the back of a boat on the water below the battle court.

Then, Iono will say that her subscriber count is rising and congratulate the player for passing the Gym Test!

Gym Leader Iona

After completing the “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout Gym Test, ” head back inside the Levincia Gym and talk to the receptionist again. The receptionist will congratulate the player for completing the Find Mr. Walksabout Gym Test and say that the player has now earned the right to challenge the Levincia Gym Leader, Iono, the Supercharged Streamer! Confirm on the prompt that the player is ready to challenge Gym Leader Iono, and the player will now be brought to the battle court, which is along the large bridge in the middle of Levincia.

After that, the player will meet Gym Leader Iono in person, who will once again say her catchphrase, “‘Ello, ‘ello, hola! Ciao and Bonjour!” and introduce the player to her Livestream once again. As previously mentioned, the Levincia Gym is an Electric-type Gym, meaning Gym Leader Iono will mostly use Electric-type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Iono will use four Pokemon: a Level 23 Wattrel, a Level 23 Bellibolt, a Level 23 Luxio, and a Level 24 Mismagius with an Electric Tera type. Gym Leader Katy will use these Pokemon in this order and terastallize Mismagius, changing it from a Ghost-type to a pure Electric-type.

With that in mind, it is worth mentioning that Wattrel is an Electric and Flying-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Ice-type and Rock-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Fighting-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Ground-type moves (no effect). Iono’s Wattrell may use the following moves: Quick Attack, Pluck, and Spark.

Bellibolt and Luxio are both Electric-type Pokemon which means they also have a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective). Iono’s Bellibolt may use Spark and Water Gun, and Iono’s Luxio may use Spark and Bite. Iono’s Bellibolt has the ability of Electromorphosis, which, if an attack hits the Bellibolt, Bellibolt becomes charged and boosts the power of the next Electric-type move that it uses. Iono’s Luxio has the ability Intimidate which, if Luxio is used and enters the battlefield, the opposing Pokemon’s Attack stat is lowered by one stage.

Mismagius, because of its Tera type and as Gym Leader Iono will terastallize it, will become an Electric type which means it now has a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric type, Flying type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective). However, because of its ability, Levitate, Iono’s Mismagius will become immune to Ground-type moves, which means that Iono’s Mismagius will no longer have any weaknesses. Iono’s Mismagius may use the following moves: Hex, Confuse Ray, and Charge Beam.

Because Iono’s Mismagius will no longer have any weaknesses, It is recommended that the player’s Pokemon be at least Level 25 to defeat Gym Leader Iono a little bit easier.

After defeating Gym Leader Iono, the player will receive the Electric Gym Badge and TM048, a move called Volt Switch. Volt Switch is a special Electric-type move where, if used, the Pokemon using the action will be switched out with another Pokemon in the trainer’s party after performing its attack. Volt Switch has 70 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

Now that the player has defeated Gym Leader Iono and completed the Levincia Gym, the player is now one step closer to completing the ‘Victory Road’ quest line and becoming the Champion in the Paldea Region!
