Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an open-world game in which the player takes on the role of a transfer student at a large academy in the Paldea Region. In the game, the player is the only one who may decide what to do: defeat all of the Pokemon Gyms, become the champion, and become the very best like no one ever was, disband the diabolical Team Star, complete the Pokedex and catch them all, or track down the mysterious new Titan Pokemon!

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Ultimate Path of Legends Guide

In this guide, the player will learn how to complete the “Path of Legends” questline from start to finish!

The Beginning of the Path of Legends

The ‘Path of Legends’ questline is started when the player finds Arven again (after meeting and battling him near the Poco Path Lighthouse) inside the Cafeteria when the player first tours around the Academy for the player’s first time in Mesagoza.

Upon meeting, Arven will tell the player that he does not usually bother going to class, but he comes to school to talk to the player as he needs help to make his dream a reality.

Arven will explain that he is researching new recipes that will help Pokemon feel better, and he found a book that discussed the Herba Mystica, which are special herbs that heal up any Pokemon who eats it.

Arven will continue that five different types of Herba Mystica can only be found in the Paldea region, and Titan Pokemon guard them, so he will ask the player to battle the Titan Pokemon for him. After that, Arven will register the locations of the Titan Pokemon to the player’s Rotom phone, then the “Path of Legends” has started!

Titan Pokemon

The new Titan Pokemon are significantly larger than their regular counterparts and guard the Herba Mystica. Once the player finds a Titan Pokemon in the game, the player will have to battle it twice in a row. With the player battling the Titan Pokemon alone in the first battle, Arven will help out in the second.

Unfortunately, the player cannot catch the Titan Pokemon while battling them; the only option is to defeat them. However, when it is back to its regular form once it is defeated, the player can find the former Titan Pokemon in the same area, which the player would have to interact with using the A button to battle it instead of throwing one of the player’s Pokemon at it like with other Pokemon.

In this form, the player will now be able to catch it. After catching it, it will have a special mark and the title “Former Titan,” meaning it is the actual Titan Pokemon but has reverted to its regular form.  Additionally, these former Titan Pokemon are guaranteed to have an IV of 30 for all their stats.

It is worth noting, however, that if the player accidentally defeats the Titan Pokemon in this form, the Former Titan Pokemon will not respawn in the game, so make sure to save the game before attempting to battle and catch them.

There are a total of five Titan Pokemon that the player can find in the game, starting with:

1.  Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan

eSIEe02hn0lAO2ZIWFICaQl4jUmERepKYom7GcNP8UzsB85Rth58djDzn Z0akSNpe6TMNCA1y6x0iLENQ4sW

The Stony Cliff Titan, Klawf, is a Rock-type Ambush Pokemon with a huge orange body that looks like a crab’s, a pair of large eyes with small pupils connected to stalks that can freely rotate.

This largemouth has rectangular teeth that look like battlements, circular markings on its cheeks that are colored pink, a stony shell that has three pentagonal shapes protruding from the top, a cream-colored underside, a pair of claws on its foremost limbs, three more pairs of limbs that function as its feet, and black fur on the joints of its limbs and in between its eyes.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Klawf clings upside-down on the side of cliffs in search of prey, but it can’t stay in this position for long because its blood rushes to its head. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Klawf lives on the edge of a cliff, and it can deflect opponents’ blows before lunging at their weak points using its claws.

Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, is located northeast of South Province (Area Three), the first area east of Mesagoza just before Artazon (or can be found southwest of East Province Area One or northwest of Artazon).

Type, Moves, & Ability

Klawf is, again, a Rock-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Poison-type moves.

Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, will use the following moves

  • Rock Smash is a physical Fighting-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to causing damage, has a 50% chance of decreasing the opposing Pokemon’s Defense by one stage.
  • Vise-Grip is a physical Normal-type move with 55 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Rock Tomb is a physical Rock-type move with 60 Power and 95 Accuracy that deals damage while lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Speed stat by one stage.
  • Block is a Normal-type status move that keeps opposing Pokemon from fleeing and is a move that never misses.

Aside from that, Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan has an Ability called Anger Shell, which raises Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan’s Attack, Special Attack, and Speed stats by one stage while decreasing its Defense and Special Defense stats by one stage when its HP reaches 50% or lower.

Tips

The player is advised to use a Level 16 or higher Pokemon against Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, to defeat it easily.

Because of that, if the player chose Sprigatito or Quaxly as their starter Pokemon, they can use either of them, so the player would have little trouble battling Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan because they are Grass-type and Water-type Pokemon, respectively, and their moves will deal super effective damage to Rock-type Pokemon like Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan. Furthermore, by Level 16, the player’s Sprigatito or Quaxly would have evolved into Floragato or Quaxwell, meaning it would have better stats.

Suppose the player does not want to use Sprigatito or Quaxly. In that case, these Pokemon can be found during the early game and are also good against Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan: Psyduck (Water-type), Marill (Water and Fairy-type), Hoppip (Grass and Flying-type), Skiddo (Grass-type), Shroomish (Grass-type), Paldean Wooper (Poison and Ground-type), Diglett (Ground-type), Wiglett (Water-type), Sunkern (Grass-type), and Makuhita (Fighting-type).

Additionally, watch out for Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan’s Ability, Anger Shell, as it becomes more powerful and faster once its HP is below 50%. Because of that, it is recommended to deal super effective damage to it to defeat it quickly, preferably with a Pokemon with a high-Speed stat.

When approached from the side of the cliff, the Stony Cliff Titan will move up the cliff, and the player must follow the path up the cliff through the path on the right. Approach Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan, and a cutscene will play in which the Stony Cliff Titan will finally notice the player, plummet from the cliff’s wall, and begin the battle with the player.

Then, after nearly defeating it in the first battle, Klawf the Stony Cliff Titan will stop battling and fall off the cliff’s edge. Follow it down the cliff to begin another battle with Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, but this time Arven and his Pokemon, Shellder, will battle with the player.

Rewards

After defeating Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, Arven will reward the player with the Stony Cliff Titan Rock Badge, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon (depending on the player’s version of the game) will now be able to sprint by pressing the L stick while running.

2. Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan

sU87uabD10A02oIyVnkk0VIHtDYN0Tmc4G36sovuOcI69uYUwCweZXpnVW C2RhCyxUTvkf9yVUQ7pbOtI6OpHrtbI2hA6QLtyMDRN4pR4d8XWxjEca2

The Open Sky Titan, Bombirdier, is a Dark and Flying-type Item Drop Pokemon with a white body that looks like that of a stork’s, a pair of black slanted eyes with what looks like eyeliner around them, a long beak that is fuchsia in color and has a tip that looks like a rounded bump, hair on top of its head that looks like an open fan, a long neck, a pair of large wings with black feathers on its tips, a pair of thin legs that are also colored fuchsia with three toes on the front and one toe on the back on each foot, black claws on its toes, a black lower body, and a tail that has a squared end and black underside.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Bombirdier collects items in an apron created from fallen feathers affixed to the Pokémon’s chest feathers, then drops them from great heights for amusement. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Bombirdier bundles up food and carries it back to its nest using the apron on its chest. It likes to drop objects that produce loud noises.

Location

Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, is located northwest of West Province (Area One) (or southwest of the Asado Desert) on top of a mountain with many boulders rolling down. It can be reached by following the path west of Cortondo until the West Province (Area One) – Central Pokemon Center, then following the path a little further until the player finds an NPC with a picnic setup before a bridge, then head up the path up the mountain on the left.

The player would have to avoid the rolling boulders while scaling the mountain. It is suggested that the player utilize the obstacles along the path to their advantage by hiding behind them if necessary.

Type, Moves, & Ability

Bombirdier is, as mentioned above, a Flying and Dark-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Fairy-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type, Ghost-type, and Grass-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Ground-type and Psychic-type moves.

Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, will use the following moves

  • Rock Throw is a physical Rock-type move with 50 Power and 90 Accuracy.
  • Wing Attack is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Pluck is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to causing damage, removes the enemy Pokemon’s Berry. The Pokemon who used the move will use its effects instead.
  • Torment is a Dark-type status move with 100 Accuracy that prevents the opposing Pokemon from doing the same move twice.

Aside from the moves, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan has an Ability called Rocky Payload that increases the power of its Rock-type moves by 50%.

Tips

It is recommended that the player will use a Pokemon that is Level 20 and above to defeat Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan comfortably. Also, it is recommended to use Pokemon with Electric-type and Rock-type moves

With that in mind, one of the starter Pokemon, Sprigatito, is a Grass-type Pokemon, and as such, its main Grass-type attacks are not very effective against Bombirdier. Because Fuecoco and Quaxly are Fire and Water-types, respectively, their main type moves will only deal the standard damage to Bombirdier. Using these Pokemon against Bombirdier is not recommended unless they have moves that deliver super-effective damage.

Because of that, these Pokemon can be found early game are good against Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan: Klawf (Rock-type), Nacli (Rock-type), Bonsly (Rock-type), Rockruff (Rock-type), Shinx (Electric-type), Luxio (Electric-type), Tadbulb (Electric-type), Flaaffy (Electric-type), Pawmi (Electric-type), and Pichu (Electric-type).

After successfully dodging the sliding boulders and reaching the mountain’s summit, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan will notice the player, do a brief roar, head down, and begin a battle with the player.

After nearly beating it, Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, will pause the battle and begin eating the Herba Mystica. Then, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan’s HP will be restored, but Arven and his Pokemon, Nacli, will now help the player in the second battle.

Rewards

After defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, Arven will reward the player with the Open Sky Titan Flying Badge, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon can now swim in deep waters, which will automatically happen once the player is riding them in the water.

3. Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan

qSKw67nz1YdZ2k Q6 Q5suFYMXI jRyHqsO43SygN706 A vKGSVNo9eAcUzkH4C7FjSpaYdBWyWkZlUNcKpv8YGGtlafLwWphI 0MsQYXiT45tawPO4oXmiPJUMU4cBaIFXlogb8TIm0j5MI0PYAj4

The Lurking Steel Titan, Orthworm, is a Steel-type Earthworm Pokemon with a red and light orange body that looks like that of a worm, a red colored top and a light orange colored underside except for the second segment of its body, which is silver colored, the first segment of its body is its rounded head, a pair of small blue eyes with small black pupils, a wide mouth with no teeth, cyan circular markings on both sides of its third, fourth, and fifth segment, three cyan circular markings on both sides of its second segment, and hands that look like fists that come out of the cyan ovals.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Orthworm will use its tendrils like fists, pelting the opponent with a hail of punches if attacked. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Orthworm dwells in arid deserts and keep their metal bodies by absorbing iron from the soil.

Location

Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan, is located in the East Province (Area Three) (or northeast of Zapapico or northwest of Levincia), a desert area in the northeastern part of The Great Crater of Paldea. The Titan Pokemon can be reached by following the path north of Levincia until it ends directly south of the East Province (Area Three) Watchtower.

Type, Moves, & Ability

Orthworm is, as stated, a Steel-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Fire-type, and Ground-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type, Dragon type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Poison-type moves.

Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan, will use the following moves

  • Wrap is a physical Normal-type move with 15 power and 90 accuracy that traps the opposing Pokemon and deals 1/8th of the opposing Pokemon’s maximum HP per turn.
  • Headbutt is a physical Normal-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to delivering damage, has a 30% chance of making the enemy Pokemon flinch.
  • Iron Tail is a physical Steel-type move with 100 Power and 75 Accuracy that, in addition to causing damage, has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Defense stat by one stage.
  • Sandstorm is a Rock-type status move that activates a Sandstorm in the battlefield for five turns.

Aside from that, Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan has an Ability called Earth Eater that causes Ground-type moves not to affect Orthworm (which means that instead of being super effective, it will have no effect). Instead of taking damage, it will recover 1/4 of its maximum HP when attacked with a Ground type move.

Tips

It is recommended that the player will use a Pokemon that is Level 28 and above to defeat Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan, easily. Also, it is recommended to use Pokemon with Fire-type and Fighting-type moves

Because of that, the player would have no problem using Fuecoco to battle Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan if the player chose it as a starter Pokemon, as Fuecoco is a Fire-type Pokemon whose moves are super effective against Steel-type Pokemon like Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan. Also, the player’s Fuecoco would already have evolved to Crocalor at Level 16, which means it has better stats.

Suppose the player does not have or does not want to use Fuecoco. In that case, these Pokemon can be found in the early game that can also be good against Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan: Makuhita (Fighting-type), Hariyama (Fighting-type), Mankey (Fighting-type), Primeape (Fighting-type), Litleo (Fire and Normal-type), Fletchinder (Fire and Flying-type), Charcadet (Fire-type),  Armarouge (Fire and Psychic-type), and Ceruledge (Fire and Ghost-type).

Ground-type moves are not recommended against Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan even though it can deal super effectively with Steel-type Pokemon because Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan’s Ability called Earth Eater completely nullifies Ground-type moves and instead makes it recover 25% of its maximum HP. That is why only Fire-type and Fighting-type moves are recommended.

Approach the Lurking Steel Titan in the center of a crater; it will burrow below and move to a different spot within the crater. When you approach it again, it will again shift to a different spot in the crater. Approach Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan once more, and it will finally notice the player, reveal its arms, and begin the battle.

After nearly defeating it, Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan will pause the battle, attack the wall behind it, and pass through it. Follow it through the tunnel and out the other end, approach Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan on the opposite side; it will go underground and further into the crater.

Approach it again, and it will relocate to a new spot in the crater. Approach it again; it will continue to go underground and travel to a different spot in the crater. Once again, approach it, and it will eat a Herba Mystica and begin another battle. Orthworm the Lurking Steel Titan’s HP will be full again during this battle. However, Arven and his Pokemon, Toedscool, will assist the player in the battle.

Rewards

After defeating Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan, Arven will reward the player with the Lurking Steel Titan Steel Badge, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon can now jump higher by holding the B button.

4. Great Tusk/Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth

This next Titan Pokemon will depend on the player’s version of the game and which Titan Pokemon the player will encounter. The player will encounter Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, in Pokemon Scarlet or Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, in Pokemon Violet.

o0ibunuVVHyuWJuF3XJrZ7EwynZLzEbtOnSIYAfwTmwPIeLRIq7ppGgh2FYKiUT3j6IxpBxwKo0mBhHJ2wl4XGFNPCg27XyDWbItRhyU1LAO4H4cCf 91LguyXpEEZjuj89V9Jb0EWvfUtgKlTC3aBI

The Quaking Earth Titan, Great Tusk, is a Ground and Fighting-type Paradox Pokemon that has a large body that looks like that of an elephant’s, a large trunk with dark purple plates on top with pinkish red spikes that reach its topside and tail, a pair of slanted yellow eyes with small pupils, a wide, jagged mouth, a pair of two huge tusks that curl inwards, a pair of long and thin ears that are dark purple on the outside and red on the inside, and pinkish red spots on its body.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Great Tusk sightings have happened in recent years, and its name was derived from a creature mentioned in a certain book. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Great Tusk resembles a strange Pokémon that has lived from ancient times, according to a paranormal magazine.

The other Quaking Earth Titan, Iron Treads, is a Steel and Ground-type Paradox Pokemon that has a large metallic body with gray topside and black underside, a black moon-shaped marking on its face where a pair of angry red eyes with small black pupils can be found, a metal plate that is retracted to show its mouth, a pair of short black tusks on the sides of its face, a segmented black and red tread that extends from its trunk, through its topside, to its tail, a pair of black earlobes that looks like plates, and four legs that are covered by metal plates.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Iron Treads is similar to a scientific weapon that an alien magazine said was brought to this planet by aliens. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Iron Treads have been spotted in recent years, and they match a strange artifact detailed in an old expedition journal.

Location

R9iaM9cSBPZi8TMz5 U5SWuGNXEcxbHb

The Great Tusk/Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, is located in the western part of the Asado Desert (south of Porto Marinada or west of Cascarrafa), which is in the western part of the Paldea Region in the northwest of the Great Crater of Paldea.

Type, Moves, & Ability

Great Tusk is, as previously mentioned, a Ground and Fighting-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type, Dark-type, Poison-type, and especially Rock-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type moves.

Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, will use the following moves

  • Rapid Spin is a physical Normal-type move with 20 Power and 100 Accuracy. In addition to causing damage, it eliminates moves that trap Pokemon and raises the user’s Speed stat by one stage. Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, will use the following moves:
  • Knock Off is a physical Dark-type move with 65 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to doing damage, removes the opposing Pokemon’s held item, preventing the Pokemon from using it, and increases the damage by 50% if successful.
  • Stomping Tantrum is a Ground-type physical move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy and will cause twice as much damage if the Pokemon utilizing the move’s previous move fails.
  • Brick Break is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 90 Accuracy that deals damage while destroying the protective barriers in play.

Aside from that, Great Tusk the Quaking Earth Titan has an Ability called Photosynthesis that will increase its highest stat by 30% if it is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense, or by 50% if it is Speed, but this will only activate if Harsh Sunlight is active or the Great Tusk is holding a Booster Energy.

As for Iron Treads, it, as mentioned, is a Ground and Steel-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Steel-type, and especially Rock-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type and Poison-type moves.

Iron Treads the Quaking Earth Titan will use the following moves:

  • Rapid Spin is a physical Normal-type move with 20 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, removes moves that trap Pokemon and boosts the Pokemon using the moves Speed stat by one stage.
  • Fire Fang is a physical Fire-type move with 65 Power and 95 Accuracy that, in addition to delivering damage, has a 10% chance of burning or flinching the enemy Pokemon.
  • Stomping Tantrum is a Ground-type physical move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that deals twice the damage if the Pokemon using the move’s previous move fails.
  • Iron Head is a physical Steel-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, has a 30% chance of having the opposing Pokemon flinch.

Aside from its moves, Iron Treads the Quaking Earth Titan has an Ability called Quark Drive which will increase its highest stat by 30% if it is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense, or by 50% if it is Speed, but this will only activate if Electric Terrain is active or if the Iron Treads is holding a Booster Energy.

Tips

The player is recommended to use a Level 44 and above Pokemon to defeat Great Tusk or Iron Treads easily, the Quaking Earth Titan.

Against Great Tusk, it is recommended to use Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves. Gyarados is an excellent Pokemon against the Great Tusk because it is a Water and Flying-type Pokemon with those moves, a resistance to Fighting-type moves that the Great Tusk also has, and immunity to Ground-type moves that the Great Tusk also has.

Unfortunately, while Fuecoco is a Fire-type Pokemon, its Fire-type moves only deal normal damage against Great Tusk unless it possesses other sorts of moves that deal super effective damage. Because Sprigatito and Quaxly are Grass and Water-types, their main type techniques are super effective against Great Tusk.

Suppose the player does not have or does not want to use Quaxly or Sprigatito. In that case, these Pokemon can be found in the early game and are also good against Great Tusk granted that they are at a high enough level: Azumarill (Water and Fairy-type), Floatzel (Water-type), Golduck (Water-type), Fletchling (Normal and Flying-type), Swablu (Normal and Flying-type), Starly (Normal and Flying-type), Staravia (Normal and Flying-type), Squawkabilly (Normal and Flying-type), Rookidee (Flying-type), Corvisquire (Flying-type), Rufflet (Normal and Flying-type), Skiddo (Grass-type), and Bounsweet (Grass-type), and Steenee (Grass-type).

Against Iron Treads, it is recommended to use Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves.

Fortunately, if the player chose Fuecoco and Quaxly as starter Pokemon, the player would have no problem using either of them against Iron Treads as their main type moves will deal super effective damage to it. Meanwhile, Sprigatito’s main type moves will only deal the normal damage to Iron Treads.

Suppose the player does not have or does not want to use Quaxly or Fuecoco. In that case, these Pokemon can be found the early game and are also good against Iron Treads if they have the appropriate level: Azumarill (Water and Fairy-type), Floatzel (Water-type), Golduck (Water-type), Litleo (Fire and Normal-type), Fletchinder (Fire and Flying-type), Charcadet (Fire-type),  Armarouge (Fire and Psychic-type), Ceruledge (Fire and Ghost-type), Makuhita (Fighting-type), Hariyama (Fighting-type), Mankey (Fighting-type), and Primeape (Fighting-type).

Approach the Great Tusk/Iron Treads to start another battle. After nearly defeating Great Tusk/Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan will pause the battle and begin eating the Herba Mystica. Great Tusk/Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan’s HP, will be restored in this battle. However, Arven and his Pokemon, Scovillain, will help the player.

Rewards

After defeating Great Tusk/Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan, Arven will reward the player with the Quaking Earth Titan Ground Badge, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon can now glide by pressing the B button while in midair (press the B button again to cancel the glide).

5. Dondozo and Tatsugiri, the False Dragon Titan

Unlike the last Titan Pokemon, the player will face both Dondozo and Tatsugiri in both versions instead of being version exclusives.

vIRujVz4fwqdut08DpEmmbPrwAqKI6tMK CMe5047igLqunGaNUGCWaw6C1iVO5FlCKL4 omMw8XM4nvcfP

Dondozo is a Water-type Big Catfish Pokemon with a large body that looks like that of a large catfish, a light blue topside, dark blue middle side, and white underbelly, a pair of eyes with black irises, a wide mouth with dark blue bottom lips, white top lips, and blue tongue, a pair of long and white barbels near its top lips, five more white and curled barbels near its bottom lip, a short protrusion that looks like a nose, six white frills on top of its head that is arranged in a circle with two of them longer and flat-tipped and four of them rounded and shorter, three gills on both sides of its body, a pair of white pectoral fins, a pair of white elongated rear fins, and a white tail fin that looks like a fan.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Dondozo is a glutton, but it’s bad at catching prey, so it teams up with a Tatsugiri. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Dondozo treats Tatsugiri as its boss and follows it obediently; however, despite his power, Dondozo appears not very intelligent.

Tatsugiri is a Dragon and Water-type Mimicry Pokemon that comes in three different forms: Curly Form, Droopy Form, and Stretchy Form. The form that the player will face as the False Dragon Titan is a Curly Form.

Tatsugiri’s Curly Form has a small orange body with darker orange splotches all over its body and a white underside, a pair of two large eyes with black irises, a pair of long pectoral fins, a wavy dorsal fin, a tail fin that is split, a white throat sac on its underside, and its whole body is curled up in the rear side.

According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet, Tatsugiri is a small dragon Pokémon that lives inside Dondozo’s mouth to protect itself from outside enemies. According to its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Violet, Tatsugiri is a cunning Pokémon that pretends to be weak to attract prey, then orders its partner to attack.

Dondozo and Tatsugiri, the False Dragon Titan, are located in the eastern part of Casseroya Lake (north of West Province Area Two or southwest of North Province Area Three).

The False Dragon Titan can be found by following the path northwest of Medali, dropping down Casseroya Lake, swimming towards the rightmost island in the middle of the lake, and at the southernmost end of the island, the player will find a beached-up orange Tatsugiri with a speech balloon that says “Taitaaan!”. When you interact with this Tatsugiri, a Dondozo will appear from the water, devour the Tatsugiri, and a battle against the Dondozo will begin!

Because the player must use Koraidon or Miraidon to swim to the island in the middle of Casseroya Lake, the player must have unlocked Koraidon or Miraidon’s Swim Mode, which can be accomplished by defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan in the northwest of West Province (Area One).

Type, Moves, & Ability

Dondozo is a Water-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Grass-type and Electric-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves.

Dondozo will use the following moves

  • Water Pulse is a Water-type special move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, has a 20% chance of confusing the opposing Pokemon.
  • Order Up is a physical Dragon-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, raises a specific stat by one stage depending on the Tatsugiri form in the Dondozo’s mouth (Attack stat if the Tatsugiri is Curly Form, Defense stat if Droopy Form, and Speed stat if Stretchy Form).
  • Body Slam is a physical Normal-type move with 85 Power and 100 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, has a 30% chance of paralyzing the opposing Pokemon.
  • Aqua Tail is a physical Water-type move with 90 Power and 90 Accuracy.

In addition to its moves, it has an Ability called Oblivious, which makes it immune to being fascinated, intimidated, or taunted.

As for Tatsugiri is again a Water and Dragon-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Dragon-type and Fairy-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Steel-type, especially, Fire-type and Water-type moves.

Tatsugiri will use the following moves:

  • Icy Wind is a special Ice-type move with 55 Power and 95 Accuracy that deals damage while lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Speed stat by one stage.
  • Dragon Pulse is a special Dragon-type move with 85 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Muddy Water is a special Water-type move with 90 Power and 85 Accuracy that, in addition to dealing damage, has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Accuracy by one stage.
  • Taunt is a Dark-type status move with 100 Accuracy that forces the opposing Pokemon to use only damage-dealing moves for three turns.

Tips

It is recommended that the player use Pokemon that are Level 55 and above to beat Dondozo and Tatsugiri with ease.

Against Dondozo, it is recommended that the player use Grass-type and Electric-type moves. On the other hand, against Tatsugiri, it is recommended that the player use Fairy-type moves. Fairy-type Pokemon would be great against both Dondozo and Tatsugiri as Fairy-type Pokemon are immune to Dragon-type moves which both Dondozo and Tatsugiri have. However, Fairy-type moves will only deal the normal damage against Dondozo.

Fortunately, suppose the player chooses Sprigatito as their starter Pokemon. In that case, its main Grass-type moves are super effective against Dondozo, and it can learn to Play Rough, a Fairy-type move, when it reaches Level 36, as well as Disarming Voice, another Fairy-type move, via TM.

Unfortunately, because Fuecoco and Quaxly are Fire-type and Water-type Pokemon, respectively, their main type moves will be ineffective against Dondozo and Tatsugiri, who resist them. Using these Pokemon against the False Dragon Titans is not recommended unless they have moves that deal super-effective damage to Dondozo and Tatsugiri.

Suppose the player does not have or does not want to use a Sprigatito or its evolutions. In that case, these Pokemon can be found the early game. They can be good against Dondozo and Tatsugiri the False Dragon Titan: Pawmi (Electric-type), Shinx (Electric-type), Flaaffy (Electric-type), Wattrel (Electric and Flying-type), Hoppip (Grass-type), Bounsweet (Grass-type), Skiddo (Grass-type), Toedscool (Grass and Ground-type), Capsakid (Grass-type), Azurill (Normal and Fairy-type), Marill (Water and Fairy-type), Igglybuff (Normal and Fairy-type), Fidough (Fairy-type), Mimikyu (Ghost and Fairy-type), and Tinkatink (Fairy and Steel-type).

Dondozo will pause the battle, return to the water, and swim to a different location after nearly beating it. Follow Dondozo to the northern end of Casseroya Lake’s center island, where the player will find the Tatsugiri in shallow waters.

Another battle against Dondozo, who now has an aura around him, is about to begin! Approach the Tatsugiri, and the massive Dondozo will emerge and strike the nearby cliff’s wall, creating an opening through which the Tatsugiri will enter. Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan’s HP, will be restored in this battle. However, Arven and his Pokemon, Greedent, will help the player.

After defeating Dondozo, Arven is about to enter the cliff opening, as he usually does when defeating Titan Pokemon. Still, the Tatsugiri from earlier, the true False Dragon Pokemon with an aura surrounding it, will appear and begin a battle against Arven and the player. Dondonzo and Tatsugiri are the only Titan Pokemon the player will have to battle three times in a row.

Rewards

After defeating Dondozo and Tatsugiri, the False Dragon Titan, Arven will reward the player with the False Dragon Titan Dragon Badge, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon can now climb up cliffs and walls by pressing the B button while facing a cliff.

After defeating all of the Titan Pokemon, Arven’s Mabosstiff will be restored to full health. At the same time, the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon will have regained all of its powers except the ability to combat, thanks to the Herba Mystica.

As a result, Professor Sada or Professor Turo (depending on the player’s version of the game) will contact the player and ask Arven and the player to go to the lighthouse lab in Poco Path because they need Arven to access the lab.

Proceed to the Poco Path Lighthouse, located southeast of Los Platos or northeast of the player’s house (the lighthouse where the player first met Arven). Because the player has been there before, the player can fly directly to the lighthouse lab by selecting it on the player’s map.

Upon arriving at the Poco Path Lighthouse, Arven will give a little backstory about his relationship with Professor Sada or Turo and that all they do is work and never come home. Then, Arven will unlock the door to the lab and let the player head in.

The computers in the lab will turn on, and Professor Sada or Turo will speak to Arven and the player through the computer, telling them they need their help with their research in Area Zero. Professor Sada or Turo will say they need the Scarlet/Violet Book (depending on the player’s version of the game), which Arven will say he has. As a result, Professor Sada or Turo will request that Arven and the player deliver the book to the Great Crater of Paldea’s deepest part of Area Zero.

Professor Sada or Turo will warn Arven and the player that Area Zero is full of vicious Pokemon and powerful security systems and advise them to recruit allies for the journey. Arven will ask if the player wants to go, so choose any of the responses from the prompt, and Arven will agree to accompany the player.

Arven will then tell the player they will have a Pokemon battle to check if they are ready to go to Area Zero. So, exit the lighthouse lab, approach Arven and his Mabosstiff just in front of the lighthouse, talk to Arven, confirm on the prompt (making sure to heal your Pokemon first), and Arven will ask his Mabosstiff if it is ready. Choose any of the prompt choices then a battle against Arven will begin!

Arven’s Pokemon are a Level 58 Greedent, a Level 61 Toedscruel, a Level 60 Scovillain, a Level 62 Garganacl, a Level 59 Cloyster, and a Level 63 Mabosstiff.

  • Fire Blast is a special Fire-type move with 110 Power and 85 Accuracy that, in addition to causing damage, has a 10% chance of burning the opposing Pokemon.

Arven’s Garganacl will use the following moves

  • Body Press is a physical Fighting-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy. The damage delivered is calculated using the Pokemon’s Defense stat rather than the Attack stat.
  • Stone Edge is a physical Rock-type move with 100 Power and 80 Accuracy that, in addition to causing damage, has raised the Critical Hit ratio by one stage.
  • Earthquake is a physical Ground-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy that will hit all Pokemon on the battlefield and even double the damage if a Pokemon uses Dig.
  • Stealth Rock is a Rock-type status move in which rocks are placed on the opponent Pokemon’s battlefield region, dealing damage to all opposition Pokemon sent out (the amount of damage depends on the opposing Pokemon’s weakness or resistance to Rock-type moves).

Cloyster is a Water and Ice-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) in Electric-type, Fighting-type, Grass-type, and Rock-type and resistant (not very effective) to Water-type, especially Ice-type.

Arven’s Cloyster will use the following moves

  • Icicle Spear is a physical Ice-type move with 25 Power and 100 Accuracy in which the Pokemon using the move will hit the player two to five times (37.5% chance of hitting the opposing Pokemon twice, 37.5% chance of hitting three times, 12.5% chance of hitting four times, and 12.5% chance of hitting five times).
  • Rock Blast is a physical Rock-type with 25 Power and 90 Accuracy in which the Pokemon using the move will hit the player two to five times (37.5% probability of hitting the enemy Pokemon twice, 37.5% chance of hitting three times, 12.5% chance of hitting four times, and 12.5% chance of hitting five times).

Mabosstiff is a Dark-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Bug-type, Fairy-type, and Fighting-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type and Ghost-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Psychic-type moves. Arven will also terastallize Mabosstiff, which has a Dark-type Tera-type, so its Dark-type moves will be boosted.

Arven’s Mabosstiff will use the following moves

  • Fire Fang is a physical Fire-type move with 65 Power and 95 Accuracy that, in addition to delivering damage, has a 10% chance of burning or flinching the enemy Pokemon.

Arven’s Mabosstiff also has the Ability Intimidate, which reduces the Attack stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage when it enters the battle.

Tips

As Arven’s Pokemon range from Level 58 to 62, it is recommended that the player’s Pokemon are Level 63 and above to beat Arven and all his Pokemon easier.

Additionally, it is recommended that the player has Pokemon with Fighting and Flying-type moves. They will deal super-effective damage to Arven’s Greedent, Garganacl, Cloyster, and Mabosstiff, and Flying-type moves will deal super-effective damage to Toedscruel and Scovillain.

Path of Legends Complete!

After defeating Arven, he will say that he realizes that they will require additional support when going to Area Zero, and he will advise that they recruit two more people: someone with Champion Rank skills and someone who can deal with tech. Select any of the prompt responses, and Arven will respond appropriately to the individual suggested by the player.

After that, the “Path of Legends” questline is now completed! The player must complete the other two questlines to head to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea!
