We just got a hint at a reveal for the next Mortal Kombat game, and many fans think that the teaser means that NetherRealm is ready to pull a Resident Evil and remake the first MK game. The studio hasn’t released an official trailer yet, but we do have some possible details about the release.
The leak comes in two parts, with the first revealing that the game will be called Mortal Kombat 1 and will have a $70 price tag when it comes out. This comes from leaker @billbil_kun:
The second part of the leak comes from Windows Central, which reports that the game is expecting a launch in September and that incoming characters could include The Suicide Squad’s Peacemaker and The Boys’ Homelander.
These are all just rumors for now, but with every MK game, we should expect certain things, and another DC hero allowed to be violent is a very likely choice. I’m surprised that Homelander could be playable, but he’s a violent, sadistic Superman who would fit right into MK.
Until NetherRealm reveals more, all fans can do is wait. If it’s any consolation, they already dropped that clock teaser, and it’s possible we could be getting our first look at the game within the next few weeks. We’ll just have to wait and see.
No official release date has been announced for the next Mortal Kombat game.
