James Cameron’s Avatar franchise is set to make a comeback later this year with the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, but there are also a bunch of games incoming set in the world of Pandora. One title is Avatar: Reckoning which is a mobile shooter, and we have a new trailer giving us a look at the game.

Here’s the official description:

Avatar: Reckoning is an upcoming video game for mobile devices in development for the Avatar franchise.

The story takes place in never-before-seen parts of Pandora where players will meet new Na’vi clans fighting to defend their home and battle the RDA for the resources.

The game features single-player and co-op functions, with PVP modes. Players are able to create their own avatar, who levels up and can be equipped with gear and weapons. Players join Na’vi clans to fight off waves of RDA troops in both solo and multiplayer matches.

The game is said to be built on Unreal Engine 4. For a movie franchise that has been lauded for visual effects, it would only make sense that any games based off of it would look amazing as well.

I’ll admit, it’s kind of confusing to watch Na’vi covered in camo gear and using guns, but I guess the story will make sense of it. Besides being able to control Na’vi, I think it would be great if we could also control some human factions as well as any mech or vehicles that they could have access to.

The Avatar franchise has been pretty dormant since its release back in 2009, but I am excited for its return in the big screen as well as games.

Avatar: Reckoning is set to release for mobile sometime in 2023.
