The best way to describe Returnal is ‘action-packed’. Among the general enemies you might come across in the game, there are also bosses. One boss which stands out as a fairly difficult boss is the Ixion boss, which is the second one in the game. This boss is quite different compared to the first boss, as it is mostly in the air. Today, we will show you exactly how to defeat Ixion in Returnal.
How to Beat Ixion – Returnal
As a general rule, most of the bosses in Returnal have three phases. So, in order to best guide you through the process of defeating this boss, we will split this walkthrough into three parts, the three phases of the boss.
Let’s get down to it.
First Phase
There is not much to be said about the first phase, except ‘dodge’. That is the general rule in the first phase, as the boss will travel from one side of the arena to the other, throwing all sorts of attacks at you.
Whenever you get some leeway, or the boss isn’t throwing any attacks at you, start devouring it with a weapon. We recommend using the Tachyomatic Carbine!
Second Phase
The second phase is the most fun. There won’t be any more targeted attacks that Ixion will throw at you, but there will be a lot of blue attacks, walls, and force fields to dodge. Instead, of using your dash like the previous phase, use only jump here, and strafe whenever possible.
That way, you can also hip fire Ixion whenever you get the chance.
When Ixion jumps from the ground in the second phase, go to the ledge that is opposite of the entrance for the arena. He will unleash tons of attacks, and do your best to avoid them. After a short while, he will start attacking like in the first phase.
Third Phase
Keep your distance is the motto you should go by in the third phase. Ixion will start dashing at you with melee attacks, so keep your distance, and your finger on the dash button.
Also, keep in mind that now there will be more particles above the walls that he will unleash, so be careful when jumping the walls, not to get hit by the particles above the forcefields.
Other than shooting your gun every chance you get, all of what has been said pretty much sums up this boss fight. Taking less damage is more important than doing damage, especially in Returnal!
