Learn how to get the Death Flower in the Sims 4 and use it bargain with the Grim Reaper to save a Sim’s Life.
Losing a cherished Sim in The Sims 4 can be an emotional moment for any player. While the standard approach is to plead with the Grim Reaper, hoping for an extension of the Sim’s life, this is often a risky gamble that rarely pays off. Luckily, there’s a much more reliable way to sway the Reaper: the elusive Death Flower.
Offering the Death Flower to the Grim Reaper significantly increases your chances of saving your Sim. This makes it one of the most effective ways to prevent a permanent goodbye. Similarly, if you’re determined to bring back a Sim who has already passed, crafting a special potion can revive a ghost Sim, restoring them to their former lively self! In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about finding the Death Flower and using it to keep your Sims where they belong—in the land of the living.

How to Get the Death Flower
Before we get started, keep in mind that, unlike in The Sims 3, where you can plead with the Grim Reaper directly, in The Sims 4, you’ll need a living Sim to take the Death Flower and offer it to the Grim Reaper on behalf of the deceased. This makes the process challenging if your Sim is living alone.
Grafting A Death Flower
The only way to obtain a Death Flower without using cheats is through gardening. By planting specific plants and grafting them together, you can eventually produce a Death Flower. To do this, your Sims needs to reach Gardening Level 5. This enables them to take cuttings from plants and graft them to create hybrids.
- To get the Death Flower, you must graft a Pomegranate to an Orchid.
- Pomegranate is obtained by grafting an Apple (From Seed Packet, also found in Willow Creek Park – Behind BFF Household) with a Cherry (Found in Oasis Springs – Behind the Park by Springscape.)
- Orchids are obtained by grafting Lily (Found in Willow Creek Park, also in front of Oakenstead) and Snapdragon (Willow Creek—Behind BFF Household).
- After grafting the Pomegranate to an Orchid, wait for the Orchid to blossom for a chance to get the Death Flower.
- It’s best to graft more Pomegranate to an Orchid for a higher chance.
- After harvesting the Death Flower, plant it for more.
How to Cheat a Death Flower
The easiest way to obtain a Death Flower is through a cheat that will make it available in build mode for purchase.
- First, open the Command Console by pressing
Ctrl + Shift + C
for PC or holdR1 + R2 + L1 + L2
for console users. - Type
testingcheats on
then enter to enable. - Next, type
bb.showhiddenobjects
as this will show all the available items used in Sims 4. - Head to Build Mode.
- In the Search Bar, type Death Flower.
- Purchase the flower to use or plant.
How to Use Death Flower
To use the Death Flower, you need a live Sim in the same lot as the deceased. Make sure the Death Flower is in the live Sim’s inventory before talking to the Grim Reaper. Select Give Death Flower before the Grim Reaper makes his final decision.
How to Bring Ghost Sim Back to Life
If your Sims already failed to plead with the Grim and turned into a Ghost, you can cook Death Flower into an Ambrosia. The Sim Ghost that eats the Ambrosia will turn back to life.
- To make an Ambrosia, you need Level 10 Homestyle Cooking and Level 10 Gourmet Cooking to unlock the recipe.
- Purchase Potion of Youth from the Rewards Store for 1500 Satisfaction Points.
- Get an Angelfish from fishing in any river in Willow Creek.
- With the Death Flower, Potion of Youth, and Angelfish in your inventory, interact with your fridge.
- Select Cook a Gourmet Meal and choose Ambrosia.
- Have the Ghost Sim eat the Ambrosia, and they’ll turn into a live human again.
This process takes a while since you have to max out your cooking skills. The quickest way to turn a ghost back to life is by using a cheat to remove the ghost trait. You can read more of all death cheats here.
