It’s been a couple of months since we’ve gotten a look at Nacon and Spiders Steelrising, but what good is all these great designs and gameplay without a good story to breathe life into it? Just in, we now have a cinematic look at the story of Steelrising which gives us a great showcase of the protagonist Aegis as well as the other automatons we can expect to run into in the game.

Watch this:

Here’s the description:

Paris, 1789. The city is in the grip of terror. The Revolution has been suppressed with bloodshed by Louis XVI and his merciless mechanical army.

It falls to Aegis, an engineering marvel, to take on the king’s ranks of automatons and change the course of history.

The story actually looks pretty exciting, and it feels like the story will be drawing from real-world history with actual historical figures going through the same major events—the only difference is Aegis and the rise of these machines that are all over the place.

With no upcoming BioShock game announced, Steelrising kind of feels like it comes from the same aesthetic family, but there is a more heavy emphasis on automatons and robots rather than potions that can give you powers. Hopefully Steelrising manages to also deliver a memorable story with heavy themes and thoughtful narrative.

Steelrising will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 8.
