Worms Rumble offers an action-packed experience on a 2D platform gameplay which is not for everyone. But there is no going around it, even if 2D games aren’t for you, you’ll probably gain a deep respect for this game if you try it.

The Best Games Like Worms Rumble

You can go into matches where up to 32 worms battle it out, trying to eliminate their opponents. The worms are equipped with gear like guns, bombs, and similar weaponry.

This game is actually based on a battle royale platform, hence why it is so fun to play. It’s based on old similar games, where real-time movement was not possible.

This made it difficult to find the best games like Worms Rumble, but we have compiled a great list below!

Available on: PC, PS4 and PS5

Genre: Action, Platform, Fighting, and Shooting

The Best 10 Games Like Worms Rumble

We will give you the games closest in gameplay and style to Worms Rumble. These are the best games we found that are like Worms Rumble:

  1. Super Mario Bros. 35

This game has an interesting concept. It has a battle royale system implemented on the original Super Mario game.

You don’t get to shoot a lot of guns, but as you score higher points than the other players, you slowly eliminate them.

Upwards of 35 players in a match makes it dangerously close to Worms Rumble. Everyone starts the same timed stage, and every player races to get the most points out of the whole lot.

It’s also an added benefit that this is a free Nintendo Online subscription game. This is one of the best game that is similar to Worms Rumble.

Available on: Nintendo Switch

  1. Retimed

Retimed shares very similar mechanics to Worms Rumble. It’s a 2D shooter game, and has many interesting mechanics that Worms Rumble might not have.

For example, the ability to create a bubble that slows down time is really interesting and adds a whole another level of fun.

Thankfully, they’ve managed to implement that particular mechanic into multiplayer play. It offers both fast-paced, and slow-paced shooting experience.

There are tons of game modes to choose from, depending on what kind of gaming experience you are looking for.

The most distinguishable ones are either team game modes or solo play.

Available on: PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch

  1. Boomerang Fu

Probably the most special of the bunch, Boomerang Fu offers gaming experience like no other. Some are not fond of the food-as-characters aspect of the game, but I think that’s what makes Boomerang Fu special.

You can play with upwards of 6 other players. You have your own boomerang and your objective is to slice and dice the other foods, i.e. players.

There are hundreds of powerups that you can get, like explosive boomerangs, disguise, and others. With these you can also get a few of them and make your own combinations!

At what this game really excels at is the number of maps. There are more than 30 maps to choose from and each of them is completely different to the others before that.

Available on: PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

  1. Roblox

Roblox needs no introduction. It’s the most famous one of the bunch. In this game, developers create their own mini-games you can play.

The library is so big that you might get overwhelmed by so many games to choose from.

Even though I say mini-games, that doesn’t do it justice. Some Roblox mods are more detailed and developed more beautifully, than other titles from big name corporations.

However, the only drawback is that these developers are somewhat limited by the graphics, physics, and overall architecture of Roblox.

But chances are that you will find some mini-game that might appeal to you in this game. I recommend it for every kind of gamer. Because there are so many mods, that makes this game a contender for the best games like Worms Rumble.

Available on: PC, Xbox One, Mac, Android, and iOS

  1. Towerfall

In Towerfall, the main objective is to eliminate as much of your enemies as possible. What makes it similar to Worms Rumble is the gameplay, and faced-paced shooting action.

Nevertheless, in what this game fall short in is its graphics. Interestingly, some might argue that this is what makes Towerfall more appealing than others.

It has retro style graphics, with pixilation in the game very apparent. You play as a night in a same-screen arena and battle it out against six other players.

There are limited resources and powerups which adds another aspect in the game, i.e. resource management.

Furthermore, there are quite a bit of arenas, and other game modes as well. However, others might have a limited player cap of up to four players instead of six.

Skill is really important in Towerfall and you have a lot of room from improvement, no matter how long you play the game.

Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS Vita

  1. Borderlands 3

Even though Borderlands 3 is an first-person shooter, there are some similarities between Worms Rumble and this game.

Firstly, Borderlands 3 has graphics which are optimized for a lot of systems, be it low-end or high-end, while not falling in beauty.

It’s a fast-paced shooter, even more than Worms Rumble which can make it a contender against it. If you want a similar style game to Worms Rumble, but also an FPS, then Borderlands 3 is the best game like Worms Rumble.

There are tons of DLCs being added most of the time, so this game doesn’t become stale and boring.

Available on: PC, Google Stadia, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series

  1. Worms (Whole Franchise)

Worms, as the name suggest, might be really similar to Worms Rumble. Well, in some ways Worms Rumble is a remake of Worms.

This game has a turn system, and players wait their turn to launch an attack. It’s not even close to being fast-paced.

However, the combat system is really interesting. If you can get around the slow gameplay, then this game will be really good for you.

You can attack you enemies with sometimes bizarre items. Items like exploding sheep, nukes, traps, and so on.

The maximum number of players in a match is six. Believe me, this is far more than enough, because your enemies might nuke the whole map.

One downside is that it isn’t available for Android.

Available on: PC, Mac, PS3

  1. Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. has been around for a few decades. It’s a long-standing game with both old players who enjoy the franchise, and new ones joining in on the daily.

It has a radically different gameplay to Worms Rumble. Well, in some sense maybe. It’s a 2D game with a lot of action.

There are a lot of characters to choose from, and many of them offer different abilities, perks, and overall look and feel.

You can play online in different game modes like 1v1, 2v2, etc. The maps aren’t as open as Worms Rumble, but still the brawling experience makes up for that.

The graphics are similar too. They’re cartoonish like Worms Rumble, but in some cases, they might be better because these developers have been on the scene for quite a while.

Available on: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo DS, and GameCube

  1. Fortnite

We all knew this one was coming. Even though some players might argue that this game doesn’t have any resemblance to Worms Rumble, that is far from the truth.

It has the main ingredients: battle royale, cartoonish graphics optimized for performance, actions, shooting, jumping, flying, and much more.

Sadly, it isn’t the 2D style that Worms Rumble offers, but for a battle royale with a lot of action, Fortnite fits the criteria.

Additionally, being as popular as it is, it means that you will get regular updates, with new content, new guns, customizations, and other stuff, something that Worms Rumble has little of.

You can go other similar battle royale games like Fortnite too, but I suggest this game as it shares the most amount of similarities from other similar popular titles.

Available on: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS

  1. Stick Fight: The Game

Stick Fight is probably one of the most fun stickmen fighting games. Stick man fighting games have been around for quite some time, but with this game, the concept is revolutionized.

No more single-player stickmen fights, instead you are immersed in a world where you have to battle it out against one or three players.

In other words, there is a multiplayer option from two to four players. Unfortunately, even though single-player was annoying in the past, it’s still a good addition to have.

However, this game doesn’t support any single-player. The developers didn’t really talk about this topic, and whether we should expect it in the future, but it’s highly unlikely.

Thankfully, the multiplayer gameplay is so fun, and you can even choose from thousands and thousands of community made maps.

It is also important to note that there are a lot of weapons too. So, not just fist fighting but battling it out with weapons is a thing in Stick Fight.

The physics are the strongest side of this game, and also its price. There is a lot of 2D action to be had in this game, and if you like Worms Rumble, then you will like this one too.

Available on: PC and Mac
