Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may be doing the press rounds promoting the Black Adam movie, but he’s teasing another project that will be announced this year—and he says it’s based on a game that he’s been playing ‘for years.’

The Rock Teases an Upcoming Movie Based on a Video Game

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Johnson was asked about his history with Microsoft and Xbox and which characters he would love to bring to the big screen. Johnson replied with:

“I can’t tell you which game in particular we’re doing, but there will be an announcement this year. We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world. Of course we’re going to do right by our gamer friends—but really we’re just going to make a great movie.”

If we’re going with an Xbox title, it’s likely that they’ve tapped the Rock to be in a Gears of War movie. His build totally fits into the franchise, and he would have to work side by side with veteran wrestler Dave Bautista, who had been trying to get a Gears film off the ground for years.

Then again, there’s a lot of other game adaptations that the Rock could fit into that aren’t from Xbox. I can see him as Kratos in a God of War game; how about an adaptation of an old game with a muscular male protagonist like Contra or Duke Nukem? This is just my personal wish, but I’d love a Metal Slug movie if anyone was working on one.

We don’t know when this big reveal will take place, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long into the year. In the meantime, watch out for the Rock in Black Adam which hits theaters on July 29.
