Throwing a party has always been one of the ways for Sims to get acquainted with each other and be engulfed in the glitz and glamour of this rowdy occasion. However, in The Sims 4, to have a successful party means you’ll need to accomplish specific goals. So how does one achieve a Gold Standard party in this game? Let’s find out in this guide!
Parties are a necessity in celebrating Birthdays or Weddings, but sometimes you just want to watch your party-loving Sim having a wild time in these gatherings. Social Events are here to scratch that party itch you’ve been having, but they might become a little challenging because of the goals you are required to reach.
Goals were once a mandatory thing in all Social Events. If you find them a bit tedious, you can now enable or disable them. But if you would like your Sims to receive a reward for hosting a party, you can check on the box to make it a Goaled Event.

How to Throw an Awesome Party
Acquiring the Gold medal will not be possible without some meticulous preparations. These are the methods you’ll have to undertake to make sure your party becomes an absolute hit.
Organize the Social Event
To get started on planning the event, you will have to make your Sim pause whatever they’re doing at the moment so as to begin contacting some prospective guests. You can either use a phone or a calendar to plan your party:
- Phone: Click on the Phone Icon at the bottom of the screen and select Plan a Social Event.
- Calendar: Click on the Calendar Icon beside the phone icon, choose your preferred date for the party, and Add An Event by selecting the plus sign on the left side of the screen.
The next thing to do is to assign a Sim who can host the event. It doesn’t matter who you decide to pick, as long as your Sim has the energy to entertain all the guests. It would help if your Sim has the Party Animal Aspiration and has filled up all his basic needs beforehand to ensure that the guests will get all the positive moodlets they’ll need during the event.
Hire some people!
After sending out invitations to guests, you can hire some Sims who can help you make this party a success. Caterers are the ones responsible for making food and desserts. Mixologists give alcoholic drinks a spin with their bartending skills. The ones in charge of perking up the party using music are none other than the Entertainers.
This one is optional, but you can also employ a Maid or a Butler to help you clean up after the party-goers’ mess. But you will have to make a separate phone call in order to hire them on the day of the event.
Side note: The problem with NPCs like Caterers or Entertainers is that sometimes they don’t arrive on time or show up at all. If you’re not lucky, you might hire someone inexperienced or irresponsible such as finding them eating at a table with party guests, or neglecting their duties. The better option would still be assigning Sims from your household, especially if they are already good at cooking or playing music.
Choose the Party Location
Pick a location where you would like your Sims to get their groove on. You have the option to choose either your lot or the other Sims’ lot in the menu. For Wedding Events, you may build a Wedding Chapel or a Wedding Garden on a lot if you’re feeling a little creative about it.
The Sims 4: City Living has a lot trait called Party Place that can be assigned to any residential lot. This lot trait can boost the effect of social interactions between Sims, giving them a “Great Atmosphere” positive moodlet. Choosing this lot as a party venue will help you finish your goals faster.
Add some Party Decorations
It wouldn’t be called a party without some colorful decorations. Liven up the occasion by adding some fancy curtains, flowers, wall decorations, etc. It will ultimately depend on the theme of the party you’re organizing, so don’t be afraid to go nuts with spiffing up the venue.
Some of the items that were included in The Sims 4: Luxury Stuff are not only used as decorations, they can also be functional and instrumental in making your party a huge success. The Fountain, for instance, isn’t only there to make the venue look pretty. You could also fill it up with cheese or melted chocolate to make a fountain of fondue. The Banquet Table is used to be filled with different kinds of party foods.
Get that Gold Medal (House Party Edition)
The party officially starts once a timer and a party meter appear on the screen. There are a few things to remember whenever you’re hosting a party. Just focus on the main goal, then you can move on to the side tasks, and most importantly — don’t forget to have a blast!
Focus on the main goal
Your main goal at a House Party is to have the host socialize with other Sims 12 times. Simply have your host interact with different Sims and do it a couple of times. Try your best at prioritizing the main task as completing it will earn you one full bar in the party meter.
Move on to the side goals
Side goals that pop up are usually random and they will only fill up a few spaces in the party meter. These side goals include having a Sim play music, dancing together with other Sims, making alcoholic drinks, etc.
Having plenty of playable Sims in your household can be a huge advantage in completing goals given that you can simultaneously make them finish a task a lot faster.
Have a blast!
While getting a Gold medal from throwing a successful party may not be as much fun for some players, it can still be gratifying to some. In the end, seeing your Sims live it up for a day can be explained why people still uphold the belief that Sims and parties go together like Piña coladas and tiny umbrellas.
