You may also want to turn this off if you feel like using the AR+ mode is too much effort or you are in a public place and a little embarrassed to act out your game. You can check out the guide on the best places to use AR+ mode on Pokemon Go.
The developer, Niantic, included an option to switch between game modes in case the users prefer one over the other. There are multiple ways to turn off AR+ mode on Pokemon Go. Each of them are elaborated below.

Pokemon Go Tips: Turn Off AR+ Mode

Turn Off AR+ Mode Through the Capture Screen

While on the capture screen – where you are trying to toss a PokeBall, a small toggle can be found at the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The toggle is labeled ‘AR+’. When tapped, this turns on or off the AR+ game mode. To check whether feature is on or off, you can check if the toggle button direction. If it is slid to the left, the AR+ mode is off. You will also know if the toggle is on because you will be seeing a camera view displayed on screen which serves as the window background.
Using this toggle is the easiest method of switching back and forth the AR+ and fully-animated game mode. It may also be useful to note that when exiting the game, the last game mode you used will serve as the default game mode the next time the app is opened.

Turn Off AR+ Mode Through Settings

If you do not want to fiddle with the AR settings while on capture mode, especially when faced with very evasive Pokemons, you can use Settings to disable the AR+ mode entirely  by default. To do this, follow the step by step instructions below.

  1. From your app’s main screen, tap the PokeBall
  2. Tap the gear icon from the upper right-hand corner of your screen
  3. Uncheck the AR+ option

Once unchecked, AR+ mode will be disabled by default upon entering capture mode.It will resort to the fully animated mode every time you need to catch a Pokemon. So, if you’re experiencing problems with the AR+ mode, or just don’t want to utilize it, you may now enjoy playing Pokemon Go without it.
