Today marks the first birthday of Valorant, the Riot Games team shooter launched last year on June 2, 2020. To celebrate, Riot has announced a pretty huge milestone for the title: it now hosts 14 million players per month. And it’s not stopping there. Valorant is apparently coming to mobile devices.

Valorant boasts 14 million players per month, is coming to mobile

Riot Games’ Anna Donlon — executive producer on Valorant — had this to say:

“One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that VALORANT will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter. To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with VALORANT is beyond what we could’ve expected and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive VALORANT experience to even more global players.”

The way this particular title has caught fire among streamers especially, it’s hard to see it not gaining a foothold once it becomes available to more players via smartphones and tablets. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when exactly the mobile version might drop, though the word “soon” in the above statement could lead one to believe the wait won’t be long.

In the meantime, those who’ve got a Windows PC handy can still download the game from the official Valorant website. It’s a free-to-play title, so even if your gaming rig is a potato and won’t let you be competitive in the slightest, you can at least install the game at no charge, hop in, and see if it’s your cup of tea.
