Performance-oriented updates are set to arrive in the next patch.
This week, fans finally had the chance to start working on their Gekko Contracts to unlock the newest Initiator Agent in VALORANT. Players with some money to spare will have already bought the Agent out, giving them early access to the new Agent and all his cute friends.
Initial Agent releases in VALORANT will never be perfect. While the dev team has worked really hard to make sure new Agents are as usable as possible in-game, a few bugs and points for improvements show up eventually as more players get first-hand experience with the new Agent.
Patch 6.05 PBE addresses some points of improvement for Gekko along with some minor game engine performance buffs. We have outlined everything you need to know about the upcoming VALORANT PBE 6.05 in this quick guide.
Gekko Updates
Gekko will be receiving Wingman Performance updates to improve targeting, while Mosh Pit and Dizzy get much-needed audio-cue updates to make them more dynamic. The audio improvements for Dizzy are arguably more impactful, however, as the new update should give players a more pinpoint sound cue of where Dizzy is while in the air.
Another change coming to Gekko is the ability-reclaim VFX that should give Gekko and his enemies a better idea of when Gekko is about to complete a reclaim. The globules have been improved as well and the Agent Select screen has been improved for Gekko.
Unfortunately, there’s no news about Gekko’s low-resolution player frame but you can expect the devs to address this soon enough.
Gekko Ability Updates
- Wingman’s Plant and Defuse targeting has been improved in order to target tighter locations.
- Audio Improvements
- Added audio variations for Mosh Pit’s explosions.
- Audio improvements for Dizzy’s plasma blasts, which will help you easily identify if it’s flying towards you or towards an ally while in the air.
- VFX Improvements
- Added VFX to when Gekko is reclaiming an orb, as well as when the globule reclaim is complete.
- Improved visuals for enemy creature globules.
- Improved performance in Agent Select
Performance Updates
- Added “CPU Wait GPU Time” metric to performance settings in order to help players track when their machines are Render Thread bound.
Incremental Update
It’s only been a few days since Gekko was added in VALORANT but so far, players have been having a ton of fun figuring out where Gekko and his friends fit in the current meta. In a few more weeks, Gekko should have a very distinct gameplay pattern that will give him his very own Identity in most team compositions in-game.
Like past VALORANT PBE Patch notes, you can expect to see even more bug fixes and possibly a few more features added when Patch 6.05 is officially released.
