Today is #StrangerThingsDay, and though we may not have a new season yet, we are getting some big announcements. Just in, we have the reveal for a VR game set in the Upside Down where you get to play as the series main villain, Vecna.

Play as Vecna in this new Stranger Things adventure in VR. Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the void. Invade minds and conjure nightmares in your quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins.
I have to admit, this is actually an interesting premise for the game. Though we know the major beats of Vecna’s story in the show, we don’t really have the specifics of how he was able to take over the Upside Down. With him entering the dimension in a weakened state, the game now has an opportunity to let him progress by learning new powers and taking on all the creatures that lived in the dimension before he arrived.
It may not look like a AAA game, but as long as it has a story, I’m sure a lot of VR fans would enjoy this. Plus, it should make the wait for Season 5 more bearable since that’s set to come out in 2024.
No specific release date has been announced for Stranger Things VR, but the game is expected to launch for all major VR platforms sometime around winter 2023. Catch Stranger Things now streaming on Netflix.
