Walton Goggins has been one of the more diverse actors in the industry from playing serious roles in Django Unchained to a silly one in Vice Principals. Now it looks like he’ll be teaming up with Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy for an adaptation of another hit video game franchise.
As per Deadline, Goggins has been cast in the upcoming Fallout series on Amazon Prime Video. We don’t have any specifics on who Goggins will be playing, but it’s said that his character would be a Ghoul—mutated humans whose appearances have been altered thanks to radiation.
Though Nolan and Joy are credited as executive producers for the series, the actual showrunners for Fallout will be Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley). There will also be some involvement from Fallout game studio Bethesda and Bethesda Softworks.
The world of Fallout is actually pretty unique in that it portrays a future world imagined in the 1940s, but one that is ravaged by a nuclear war. It kind of brings together ironically the desperation brought by a nuclear apocalypse and the ideal utopia that was present around the ‘40s.
We don’t know how the series could look, but with Westworld looking as amazing as it did, we could expect the same thing with Fallout. If Amazon can pull off some amazing visuals with their upcoming Lord of the Rings series, they could probably do the same with a franchise like this one.
With Paramount+ doing Halo and HBO adapting The Last of Us, Amazon has some competition when it comes to their video game franchise adaptation.
No release date has been set for the Fallout adaptation on Amazon Prime Video.
