Capcom had decided to make a huge change with their mainline Resident Evil games when they decided to shift the perspective to first-person, but some fans of the series had been requesting for a third-person perspective option to be more in line with the other entries in the franchise.
The great news is, the upcoming DLC for Resident Evil VIII called Winters’ Expansion is going to allow a third-person perspective, and we have a look at the gameplay via IGN. Watch this:
Resident Evil Village 3rd Person mode is now here, thanks to the new RE Village Winters’ Expansion. Take a look at our Resident Evil Village third person gameplay to see what it’s like playing as Ethan Winters from a different perspective.
The game pretty much looks like the remakes and finally gives us a good look at protagonist Ethan Winters. Though a lot of the gameplay is in third-person, it looks like the cut scenes will all shift to first person—after all, that is what the studio has initially animated when they made the game.
I don’t expect Capcom to suddenly shift to third-person moving forward, but I think in the future games, fans will be given the option to shift between perspectives they prefer.
