Dead Space isn’t the only horror game getting a polished up remake, and Konami has announced that they will be remaking the classic Silent Hill 2. We don’t have a release date for the game yet, but thanks t IGN, we have a new deep fice video with producer Motoi Okamoto, concept artist Masahiro Ito, and composer Akira Yamaoka.
Watch this:
IGN interviews three members of the Silent Hill 2 Remake team including producer Motoi Okamoto, concept artist Masahiro Ito, and composer Akira Yamaoka who discuss what was important to preserve from the original Silent Hill 2, and what elements were updated for the remake coming to the PlayStation 5.
With the horror genre currently dominating the industry now, Okamoto explains that Konami was tasked with rebranding the Silent Hill IP to make it distinct from other horror titles (which were inspired by the earlier Silent Hill games).
Though the developers at Bloober Team will make sure that the remake stays faithful to the original, there were still some changes that were brought to this updated version. While changes in gameplay are expected, it’s said that they also aged up the protagonist James Sunderland in order to match his age with gamers today, who had also gotten older since the release of the original Silent Hill 2.
Having received a letter from his deceased wife,
James heads to where they shared so many memories,
in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill.
There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her…
“My name…is Maria,” the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her.
Experience a master-class in psychological survival horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.
As of now, no release date has been announced for Silent Hill 2 yet, but fans are expecting a launch sometime in 2024.
