Ever since the Arkham Asylum games, fans clamored for a decent Superman game. While we have no official update, TJATOMICA on Youtube has released some test footage of what a Man of Steel game could look like with the Unreal Engine 5.

With the release of UE5 and after being inspired by some fantastic videos floating around, I decided to revisit my own Superman demo from last year and move it to the UE5 Matrix city…
This project was built simply as a test for what a future Superhero game like Superman might be like in a large-scale modern city running on UE5. This, of course, could work for anything, like Invincible or The Boys. I dream of a modern Superman game, and with the release of UE5, it seemed like fertile ground for some experimentation with the amazing packages Epic has made available. I know from the video I made last time that people were eager to play it as well… So I made this version playable! Enjoy!
We do not know what problems usually come up when developing a Superman game, but it is likely traversal could be a huge issue. With Superman’s abilities, developers would have to find a way for players to move to multiple places pretty fast—and that is what is shown in this test footage.
Of course, there is also the case of Superman’s multiple powers and general OP-ness, but at least we now have an idea of what UE5 is capable of when it comes to this specific issue.
Let’s hope WB Games is watching.
While a Superman game is not official yet, the character appears in Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which will be released in 2023 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
