An unbelievable number of mounts were added to Maldraxxus with the Shadowlands extension. Unfortunately, they’re harder to get than the Ardenweald mounts, but there are some unique ones, so it’s worth the grind.
We will get to each individual mount, their drop rates, locations, as well as how to get it more efficiently. You can farm them daily also, which is always a good thing.
These are brand new mounts, and appearance-wise, they’re pretty unique.
Maldraxxus Mounts Locations – World of Warcraft Shadowlands
Callow Flayedwing
These might be familiar to you, because they use another mount as the building block, but they do have an interesting skin over them which makes them look like they’re from Maldraxxus.
This mount will hatch from the Blight-Touched Egg which can be obtained from any Galescreamer NPC at Maldraxxus. Its drop rate is around 0.17%.
The best spot to get it is at the Plague Watch, from a Diseased Galescreamer – hyper spawn:
Gorespine
The Gorespine drops from the boss Nerissa Heartless which can be found in the top-right corner of Maldraxxus, more specifically here:
Now, unfortunately, this is quite a low drop rate, but the silverlining is that this resets daily so you can potentially try to grind it out daily.
You have a chance to do this solo as well, she does have some pretty strong abilities, but honestly she’s not that powerful. So, if you want to do it faster and easier, compile a small group.
Predatory Plagueroc
Predatory Plagueroc has already been seen by many, not in this form, but rather in an undead bird mount form. Basically, they used that mount which has already existed for years, and slapped on a skin.
If you are a fan of these mounts, the Predatory Plagueroc might be something that you’ll want to add to your collection. It drops from Giager at the House of Constructs:
You’ll need a necrolord buddy to channel Anima to the House of Constructs. Then you’ll need to pull a lever of sorts to spawn Gieger. Drop rate is higher than the Gorespine.
Hulking Deathroc
This next mount is also a Deathroc. But this one can be extensively more annoying to get. You’ll have to get it from the Violent Mistake which will spawn from the red pool here:
To spawn a violent mistake place 15 red items, and 15 blue (they must be the same number), while also having the orange number being much less.
It’s a daily reset, but it might be an issue if there are players at this location, as they might put in different items to the pool.
Blisterback Bloodtusk
The Blisterback Bloodtusk will drop from Warbringer Mal’Korak. Now, like some other mounts in this list, this mount is unfortunately a rare drop as well.
You might need to ask someone if the NPC is there, because it does tend to spawn very rarely. If you are struggling to find it it’s located here:
It’s a drop mount, so you don’t have to worry about additional things. But you might also need a team to brink Warbringer Mal’Korak down.
Battle-Bound Warhound
Not a lot to go on with this mount, but one thing is for certain and that is that it drops at the Theather of Pain.
It will drop from the big bosses that spawn in the outside world and not the dungeon! A common misconception is that it drops from the dungeon.
Battle-Bound Warhound will drop from any boss that spawn there, because these bosses are on a rotation. You can allegedly farm these bosses all day.
Bonecleaver’s Skullboar
Like the last mount, this one can also be obtained from the Theather of Pain. More specifically, it drops from Sabriel the Bonecleaver.
You’ll need to have a necrolord that can channel Anima for this one as well. Drop rates are pretty low.
Necrolord Exclusive Mounts
Armored Bonehoof Tauralus
Actually, this mount will drop from the same NPC as the Skullboar, i.e. from Sabriel the Bonecleaver. We’re not sure whether it is a sure drop, but chances are that it’s not.
You can also buy it from Su Zettai vendor for necrolord, if you don’t want to go through the hassle.
Bonehoof Tauralus
Continuing the last theme, this one is also a necrolord-only mount. It will drop from Tahonta which spawns in Maldraxxus.
It’s basically the same mount, with the only difference being that this one isn’t armored. Extremely easy to take down Tahonta, and you can do this daily. Drop rates are unknown.
