Keep on reading to find out what you must do to win.
Prepare Yourself
The Chained Ogre is vulnerable to fire-based attacks, as two enemies mention if you happen to eavesdrop. With this in mind, you will want to bring the following equipment.
- Oil
- Flame Vent Prosthetic Tool
- Flame Barrel
- Healing items
With this equipment, you can deal plenty of damage to the Chained Ogre. You’ll also learn that all enemies with red eyes are weak to fire. The Chained Ogre is only one of them.
If you haven’t inserted the Young Lord’s Bell Charm in the Buddha Statue close to the Sculptor, do that first. After doing this, you must travel to the Hirate Estate area to get the Flame Vent. Next, you must find the Flame Barrel, give it to the Sculptor, and receive the Flame Vent.
With the Flame Vent equipped with plenty of oil, you’re ready to fight the Chained Ogre.
Fighting the Chained Ogre
There are enemies around the Chained Ogre, mainly near the bottom of the stairs. It would be best if you killed them first. Doing so lets you fight the Chained Ogre without distractions or fear of ambushes.
Next, you can walk up to the Chained Ogre and alert him of your presence. He’ll break free, which is when you must lock on him. Going up the stairs will alert a hidden enemy, which you may choose to kill if you wish.
With the Ogre’s attention on you, you can now follow these instructions:
- Lure the Chained Ogre down the stairs.
- Avoid the Chained Ogre’s attacks by Step Dodging when the red kanji appears.
- When he’s open, grapple and land behind the Chained Ogre before attacking a few times.
- When he roars, Step Dodge to avoid his attacks.
These are the basic instructions for fighting the Chained Ogre. When he’s not attacking, use the opportunity to throw some Oil on him. After he’s doused in Oil, get closer and use your Flame Vent to deal heavy damage.
You can swing your sword a few times when he’s burned and then retreat. Alternatively, if you manage to ignite the Oil on him and inflict Burn status, you can attack him further.
While the Chain Ogre is staggered, you can attack around five times before using the Flame Vent. The Flame Vent will keep him stunned again and open to more hits.
Eventually, you’ll kill the Chained Ogre and get a Prayer Bead. The second reward is the Shinobi Medicine Rank 1 ability. With the latter, your recovery items are more efficient in restoring your health.
No Foul Creatures Allowed
Fighting bosses with their weaknesses makes the battle effortless, and the Chained Ogre isn’t an exception. With the help of fire-based attacks and items, you’ll make the fight short and straightforward. Even so, if you get too cocky, he can kill you with his instant-kill move, so be careful.
