One of the many differences between Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu/Eevee, from other Pokémon games is the change from HMs to Secret Techniques. Your partner, Pikachu or Eevee, can learn these Secret Techniques to use outside of battle. These abilities will help your trainer clear obstacles and travel throughout the Kanto region. So, yes, the Hidden Machines or HMs in the previous Pokémon games.

Every HM from the previous Pokémon games has been changed: Cut has been changed to the Chop Down Secret Technique, Fly has been changed to the Sky Dash Secret Technique, Strength to Strong Push Secret Technique, Flash to Light Up Secret Technique, and finally, Surf has been changed to Sea Skim Secret Technique. This guide will show you how to obtain the Sea Skim Secret Technique.

Surf’s Up, Pikachu/Eevee!

As veteran Pokémon players know, you can not get these abilities immediately. To obtain the Sea Skim Secret Technique, you must first get to Fuchsia City.

  1. Upon arriving at Fuchsia City, proceed to the Pokemon GO Park complex at the city’s top.

  1. Just after the entrance on the left side (on the left side of the Poke Mart), talk to the guy wearing a bandana and hanging out with Lapras.

  1. He will then teach your Pikachu/Eevee the Sea Skim Secret Technique!

Now that you have the Sea Skim Secret Technique, you can surf in the ocean and explore more of the Kanto region! To do that, go near any body of water and press A to confirm to use it. Like that, you will surf and explore with your Pikachu/Eevee!
