Fighting waves of the undead in Back 4 Blood can be challenging. Luckily, the game’s card system can help you fight through those hordes very easily. However, you’ll be relying on weapons for most of the game, of course. Back 4 Blood is never short on ways to clean out zombie hordes and special zombies alike, from guns to melee weapons.

The Best Weapons In Back 4 Blood

Throughout each level in Back 4 Blood, you’ll be coming across several weapons that you can pick up and equip on the fly. Knowing which weapons to look for and which ones are worth getting might make your runs in the game a lot better. Here are some of the best weapons in Back 4 Blood, including some reasons why they’re worth getting.

Hatchet

There are four different melee weapons in Back 4 Blood. Each one is different in terms of damage, stamina used, and attack speed. Having a melee weapon is very important as it helps you defend yourself when any zombies get too close. It’s also vital for taking out the sticky Hocker goo that can lock players in place for a set amount of time.

Out of all the weapons in the game, the hatchet is the best melee weapon. It uses less stamina, doesn’t have too big a penalty on movement speed, and, most importantly, deals decent damage. It’s a perfectly balanced melee weapon that can save you and your teammates on more than one occasion.

Desert Eagle

Aside from being a good melee weapon, having a good sidearm is also important in Back 4 Blood. If you want a sidearm that can help you out in most situations, then you should get the Desert Eagle. With enough accuracy, the Desert Eagle is one of the best weapons in the game, thanks to its amazing firepower. However, it does have a significant recoil which makes it harder to control.

The Desert Eagle is an effective weapon even against special zombie types like the Ogre, Hocker, etc. Since the Desert Eagle packs a mean punch with its accuracy, you can use it as a means to focus on weak spots, which are usually determined by an orange or reddish glow on a part of the zombie.

Ranch Rifle

The Ranch Rifle is one of the most unique weapons in the game. You can think of it as a mix between an assault rifle and a sniper rifle. When you think of long rifles, you can think of high damage at the expense of a low rate of fire. On the other hand, the Ranch Rifle offers a higher rate of fire compared to other sniper rifles, but it does deal lesser damage as well.

As the rate of fire on the Ranch Rifle is impressive, it’s fairly easy to take out zombies with headshots using it. Most particularly, it’s one of the best weapons to use against Snitches in Back 4 Blood. Just give it the right upgrades, and the Ranch Rifle can be quite the devastating weapon for you and your team.

M249 LMG

There are two light machine guns in Back 4 Blood currently. Both have amazing damage and firepower, but they both lack handling as well. Of the two LMGs, the best one is the M249. It has impressive firepower and rage stats. To make the weapon even better, though, it has a massive 80-round clip size, so it can easily melt even the most durable of zombies.

The M249 can allow you to easily down hordes of enemies because of its high clip range. It’s also the perfect weapon to use against durable zombies like the Ogre and the Bruiser. It can be hard to control the M249 at first, but once you get used to the recoil, you’ll find that it’s one of the most damaging weapons out there so far.

M16 Assault Rifle

As expected, some of the best weapons in the game are the assault rifles. If you’re looking for something that deals pure damage, you should go for the AK47. However, if you want a gun that’s good overall, then the M16 assault rifle is the perfect choice. It’s a highly versatile gun that’s formidable across all difficulties in the game.

First off, the M16 assault rifle has a 3-round burst firing method and an automatic firing method. It’s best to use the 3-round burst fire because it makes the M16 more accurate, albeit at the expense of extra damage. If you are going up against bosses and special enemy types, using the gun’s automatic mode is the better option, of course. Overall, it’s a good weapon for mid to long-range combat.

Barret M95 Sniper Rifle

As a general rule of thumb, at least one member of the team should have a sniper rifle at hand. The Snitches are some of the worst enemies in Back 4 Blood because of what they do. Being able to kill them from afar is very important, so you don’t have a swarm of zombies running after you in the game.

The M95 Sniper Rifle boasts a mean punch. It can take out most zombies with a single headshot, making it one of the most dangerous weapons in the game. Currently, it’s the weapon that deals the most damage in the game, which makes it a must for the team.

AA12 Shotgun

It’s a given that in Back 4 Blood, you need to carry a shotgun with you at all costs. Zombies and their special counterparts are always going to close in on you. When they get too close for comfort, that’s when you should bring out a shotgun for better damage output. In the case of Back 4 Blood, you should always be carrying an AA12 Shotgun.

At close range, the AA12 shotgun has the best clearing power of all the weapons. Not only does it help clear out the hordes in front of you, it often guarantees a kill on standard infected as well. Unlike other shotguns in the game, the AA12 doesn’t have to be reloaded one shell at a time. This fast reloading speed can save you in many situations.

Which Should You Choose?

While these weapons are the best in the game, it’s still preferred that you go with a loadout that you are comfortable with. Using weapons that you are used to will make your runs in the game much more effective. Moreover, it will allow you to kill more monsters with ease. As such, it’s best to practice with your preferred weapons as much as you can.
