To say that Elden Ring is difficult would be an understatement. The game will test your limits and push you to do your best.
Amongst the various challenging bosses lies the Demi-Human Queen, Margot. Players tend to have a tough time with her, but you will come out victorious with our tips.
Demi-Human Queen Margot Overview
Demi-Human Queen Margot, a humanoid optional field boss, resembles the Trolls that populate the Lands Between, but she is quicker, smarter, and far more punitive.
Health bar: Demi-Human Queen Margot will have approximately 6600 HP in your first playthrough.
Types of damage: The boss mainly deals physical damage.
Weapons: Demi-Human Queen Margot carries a melee staff.
Weaknesses: Demi-Human Queen Margot is weak to Scarlet Rot, Poison, and Fire. On top of these, her poise can be broken with relative ease.
Demi-Human Queen Margot Location: The Volcano Cave, a little dungeon buried north of Mt. Gelmir, is where Margot can be found. Leave the Altus Plateau and head west to the northern road to get there. Beyond that are a series of rises defended by Marionette and Avionette Soldiers, who must fight to continue climbing until you reach a destroyed camp.
Turn right there and go down the road. The Volcano Cave is right at the end of the path. After a few harmless skirmishes with little demi-humans, we get to the bottom of the cave where Margot awaits behind the boss fog!
Movesets:
- Simple Arm Swipes: Margot will move around and try to smack you. With her wide range, these innocuous attacks are rather deadly. She usually only swipes once or twice, so you can block her if you have a lot of stamina. Rolling around, however, is a better response.
- Staff Throw: Margot will quiver before snarling and hurling her staff at you. She will constantly yell and keep getting more violent and eccentric.
- Chomp: If you are far enough, Margot will rush across the arena and try to stomp you once her staff is thrown away in the second phase of the fight. You can evade the impact of this strike by rolling towards and under her.
- Slam: Margot smashes the ground after raising her arms high, sending a shockwave. If you are not careful, the Slam might send you flying.
Pre-fight Preparation
Ensure that you are leveled up
A general suggestion would be to have enough HP and Vigor in the bag, as you will have to fight some smaller demi-humans along the way before getting to the Queen herself.
Scarlet Rot is your best friend.
Any item, weapon, or spell inflicting Scarlet Rot damage will come in handy. Our go-to pick has always been Rotten Breath, a magic so effective that it will help you breeze past the bosses and mini-bosses with relative ease (yes, even the late game areas).
Get Mimic Tear Ashes
Queen Margot is vulnerable to Poison as well as Magic damage. The Mimic Tear Ashes can come in quite handy as it creates an exact clone of your character. With twice the manpower, you will surely overcome the boss.
Fighting Strategy
General Tips
Be prepared for the road fraught with danger
Margot may be deadly when under-leveled, but she falls without much effort, thanks to her lackluster HP and weak defenses once you level up your gear. You need to be better prepared for the journey to Margot’s dungeon.
You need to remember that you should not get too close to Margot or grabbed by her. If you do, it might be game over.
Her staff attacks can be easily avoided by rolling away from her or rolling towards and under her, from where you can also easily attack and significantly damage her.
Melee Players
Melee fighters will have an easier time-fighting Margot since they will be near her most of the time — an ideal scenario for rolling into Margot’s blows, spending most of the fight under her belly, and striking her legs for damage. You should be able to escape most of her strikes while dealing a ton of your own.
Beware of her bites and grabs.
Queen Margot becomes a little more dangerous when she gets down on all fours, but you should be fine if you dodge the biting attack. But that is easier said than done, thanks to her incredible speed. Also, try to avoid being grabbed by her at all costs; that is her deadliest move.
Ranged Players
Get up close and personal.
Change your strategy here a bit. If you are rocking a ranged build, you would naturally want to attack and defend from a certain distance. Margot is quick, but her assaults are inconsistent and hardly precise, so you should have enough time to cast spells or shoot arrows even at close range. Change can, stay close to her, and fight like a melee brawler.
Use Rock Sling Spell
Rock Sling is an excellent spell in your arsenal when you go toe to toe with Margot. You can keep your distance and cast this spell to throw projectile rocks at her, which should significantly damage her.
Use summons to your advantage
This battle can be made considerably simpler by summoning. Margot has a long-range and can strike numerous assailants, but since she’s so enormous, everyone tends to spread out, leaving just one attacker in imminent danger.
Use the window of opportunity to your advantage. Either stay on the sidelines and attack Margot from afar or join the brawl, get beneath her, and smack her legs until she is dead.
Rewards
If you successfully get rid of Demi-Human Queen Margot, these rewards are up for grabs:
- 11000 Runes.
- Jar Cannon: The Jar Cannon is an excellent ranged combat weapon. It uses explosives and spews great bolts, but it must be used tactically, thanks to its delayed reloading.
With that, you know everything about besting Demi-Human Queen Margot. The battle is not easy to surmount, but if you follow the guide, you should be able to defeat Queen Margot with ease and efficiency!
